What would the mitigation for the first one be? Scotland 8 gets the ball, Kriel thunders into him with head on head contact. No sudden change of direction by the runner as in the Cane case, it's not a reflex tackle, there's not even an attempted wrap of the arms. Cane was virtually stationary, Kriel was charging. Not even referred.
Turns out the red didn’t matter. It had no effect on the game.
If anything, Kriel should have been penalised. The Boks should have received a further four cards, including possibly two reds.

It will be interesting to see how the rugby world looks by 2027. I was taken aback by the list of All Black stalwarts who played their last test in the final. They're going to be quite a different looking team next year. Likewise many of the current Boks will probably be a bit long in the tooth 4 years from now.
