Frans' father had a major heart and by-pass operation on 18 August and I went to visit him this morning. He is doing well - but is still mostly confined to bed.
We discussed his operations and then wet on to discuss the test of Saturday. Frans' mother was sorry for all the pressure on Dreyer for under-performing. He is a young guy who is now under pressure. No players deliberately play poor games and they try their best.
As to the situation as to Frans himself his mother said he is in full training - but the specialists think he should not play any further rugby this year.

As with him, I hope his father gets well!
How do you know the family Mike?

Unfortunately, Dryer is useless, regardless of what the Malherbe household says.
If we had started with a proper tighthead, that could have been enough to have won that test.
Players will always make mistakes- but Dryer is a liability.

Sharkbok I have been saying this for months. I agree Dreyer has been a huge liability and cost us tests against wee abs and Wobblies. The fact that Coetzee couldn't see this obvious fact makes one truly wonder about him. It's a huge pity Coenie, Redlinghuys and Malherbe all got injured. One hopes now Wilco will get a shot. NH conditions may suit him.

No I believe Malherbe’s mother sees something in Dreyer....perhaps she could spend a bit of time with him adjusting his technique......tighten up that stretched out position. She might also instruct Marx not to pull up Dreyer’s jersey. The poor AB had to grab his pants to execute a bind. Or perhaps it’s just the fit of the jersey....Malherbe’s mom could surely sort that out.

@Beeno, please explain what NH conditions would suit them.

Slower fields than the high veldt where also the ball bounces around more and travels further. Wet conditions would favour him as would any match where its trench warfare. He is a big bruiser type of forward windpomp but unfortunately on the slow side and does not cover the ground well. But at least he can scrum and maybe some speed training, diet etc can improve his speed and endurance.

Chippo
Frans' father was a classmate of mine in school - he married late when already deep into his forties and Frans was borne five years later.
Fact is also that through their whole lives my parents and the Malherbe family were close friends and spent their holidays in Still Bay together, It was natural that Frans' father and me and my brothers were friends from even before our school years.

Meyer Bosman is the illegitimate child of Frans Malherbe's father. You heard it hear first.
09 Oct 2017, 16:09#13
@Beeno. Slower fields. Wet conditions? Ever heard about hybrid pitches such as Twickenham, Aviva Stadium, Millennium Stadium and now Murrayfield as well? And then, unlike popular belief, it does not always rain in the NH.

Ceradyne, good point but others including the highly self-esteemed Mozart have claimed the NH fields are wet and slower than SH. Mozart thought this would be an advantage for the RWC and some of us kiwis were calling for the games to be played in a swamp to have a more "level playing field". Glad you have pointed out that unless the Poms run the sprinklers for a couple of days fields such as Twic kenham will be pretty good nick.

‘Low born scum’....hmmm ....that seems like an insult to my family. Well that’s not nice, the family did pretty well....and it never carried the poofter gene.
09 Oct 2017, 16:37#17
@JW. I have been to the Emirates where they even put the sprinklers on during halftime to make those hybrid pitches a bit of skid which is sometimes required in football. I have been on a tour of the Emirates stadium where they explained how exactly those pitches are built. It is amazing technology.

Think of me as a mirror Poofter. Posters that want friendly discourse with me....get friendly discourse. Those who want to attack directly or leave little barbs all over the Board have their heads handed to them. I don’t care, I don’t want to be part of any group, have the approval of any poster. To me you and your Ouma Magrietjie are of no consequence.....if you want to be civil, fine....if not, fine. But we have been through all of that before. And you can’t change, so take your medicine.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha!
Listen to this pompous old windbag trying to sound like a hard case!
LMAO!
Moffie, if a childish, foppish and pathetic old coward like you ever hands someone their head on this board or anywhere else, it'll be the first time.
But hey, don't let me stop a weak, ignorant and wrinkled old prune like you trying to sound like a tough guy . . . keep them coming, it's hilarious!

I tried being nice to you in the past and there is no way it worked out because of your personal attacks on me.
I rarely ever comment on threads started by you and only to remind other posters of whom they are dealing with. So do me a favour - stay off threads started by me and we will have no real problems in future.
I will stay off threads started by you in return. In any event debate is not possible with you - debate is between gentlemen and in your case the absence of that in you make it impossible.
