Some of the players of the Springboks coming up with top class performances, while some were serious let-downs causing the one point loss.
Top Performers
Marx, Etzebeth and Du Toit
Poor performers
Dreyer, Louw, Jantjies, Serfontein, Leyds
My rating of the players are as follows:-
Coetzee      -      6,5/10Skosan       -       6/10Kriel           -      6,5/10Serfontein  -      4,5/10Leyds         -        3/10Jantjies       -       4/10Cronje        -        6/10Louw          -        3/10Du Toit       -        8/10Kolisi          -        5/10De Jager     -        6/10Etzebeth     -        8/10Dreyer        -        3/10Marx           -        9/10Kitshoff       -        8/10
A promising performance - but I think some tweaking would make for a better team.

The Official Rankings ™®

Coetzee      -      5.5/10
Skosan       -       7.0/10
Kriel           -      4,0/10
Serfontein  -     5.5/10  - Seems more suited to flank as a small ball carrier.
Leyds         -        3.5/10
Jantjies       -       7/10     Some good kicking, with a few poor kicks.
Cronje        -       8/10A few aimless up and unders, but Marshalls his team well.
Louw          -        5/10Slouw Francious was off the boil
Du Toit       -        6.5/10
Kolisi          -        5.5/10Showed good speed in cover defense, then faded away.
De Jager     -        6/10  Not much though, but did the basics that was asked of him.

Etzebeth     -        8.5/10Very good ball carrier in the tight stuff.
Dreyer        -        1/10  (Exposed as a useless tighthead)
Marx           -        10//10His best test ever. He is now better than Bismark Duplessis ever was- and he is less of a hot head.
Kitshoff       -       7.5/10 (Lots of go forward). High work rate.

Kriel makes 11 metres in 9 runs and doesn't beat one tackler......Allende misses 1 tackle in 2 tackle attempts....Stephanie takes 1 of 2 lineout balls. .. Nobody sees nothing.

Guys, I agree Marx had a fantastic game, especially in the loose and with ball in hand but was he good in the tight? Boks had a few scrum penalties.

All down to Dreyer, we got scrumming dominance after Wilco came on The Boks tried a clever tactic to help Dreyer. Stephanie pushed up Dreyer's jersey so there was nothing for the NZ loosehead to grip. Did it scrum after scrum, the refs should have caught it.

Well at least he didn't pull his pants down,
I was surprised the ref was not more controversial - a few call have been disputed though. I want to watch the game gain to see what was going on in the rucks. Something looked off.

I think you guys are a bit harsh. I thought that the guys played out of their skin. Jantjies was extremely suspect and never seem to get the back line going. To predictable. I don't know why they took Pollard off. De Allende is a spent force. Should have been Rohan in the mix. Pieter Steph had an amazing game and so did Marx. Marx should have been the man of the match by a country mile. I think there were about 6 players that should not have been in the team today. Dreyer, rallepelle, Nyakane, page, Skosan and Louw.

After watching the game again  I came to the conclusion that -
*    that the rating for Du Toit should be  an 8; and*    Kitshoff deserves a rating of 7

Sure you did Tokkie, but how about your match losing hero Allende. Does he get.the zero he deserves from you or do you. Still think he is a great player. Man that guy is slow, Mckenzie burned right round him. LMAOFY!

The press articles I have read gave Max the Max, i.e. 10. This is Ratue's rating in the NZ herald. Good to see a new talent emerge at international level.
Malcolm Marx 10
Magnificent. Loads of brutal runs, turnovers, tackles. Helped make a try, scored another. Unbelievable game - a new world star?

All true about Marx and I give him a 10 myself. It was very obvious though that he wasn't trying any difficult lineout throws...of his 13 throws 9 went to the front of the lineout....6 to Etzebeth. That remains one area to polish. It put a fair amount of pressure on Etzebeth who as usual was money on his own ball.

Far better and improoved performance from the Boks after the 57-0 drubbing. But people expected them to be at home. You would of expected seeing the Boks were playing out of their skin to really win this one. But the Abs just had this, or have this knack. Of big players, in big moments. That Mckenzie try was a great example. I Think that was the difference. The abs never looked liked loosing. And the Boks always looked to be chasing, particularly in the second half.

There were still serous flaws in the Springbok team - but other than the 2014 test in Ellis Park this was the best performance of the Springboks at home to the AB;s since 2012.
So there are positive sigs - but the selecting of the team needs to be fine-tuned to cut out the defective selections in some positions.

Dreyer can't scrum, he is a total liability and he's got to go! It is so blatantly obvious it is sickening. We all know Jantjies is hot and cold...but that is only in club rugby, for the Boks...he is only cold. Got to go.
PSDT proved me wrong, had a great game out of position. And Marx played a perfect 10/10. The best performance I have ever seen from a hooker. What a legend in the making!

De Allende was more effective when he replaced Serfontein  prior to that accident getting him a card.

Ok ... so we're world beaters now.

We eventually got our front row right in Kitshof, Marx and Louw.

We messed our locks up by removing Du Toit for the useless Lood.

We haven't ever had a proper back row. There was a definite improvement when Du Preez came on for the pathetic Kolisi ... but this area still needs a lot of work.

Jantjies was awful. One mistake followed by another, followed by another and another. A huge liability to the Boks. Pollard showed a little form during the brief moment he was on.

Cronje had a good game but even his presence couldn't lift Jantjies' standard.

Our back line is a mess. Serfontein and Kriel are both very poor test centres. Skosan had a better match but would still have wanted Nkosi on the left wing. Leyds is pathetic ... but we all knew that. Coetzee gave it his best. He had a better match ... but we must surely have better out there. We need to give a few guys a crack at the 15 jersey ... even Willie Le Roux would brought a little more than the basics to the park.

Now that we've established all the different Bok players ratings ... I would like to see the All Blacks rated ... and I'm talking about a comparison of the crap they dished up yesterday to the high standards we usually see.

From my perspective they were poor. Dropping balls, knocking on, being caught napping at the scrum, defensively poor. They left at least 3 tries out there.

All the hype about Sonny Bill Williams being this super star was once again exposed as a crock of sh!t. The only thing he has going for him is his massive ego. Crotch gave it his all but he too isn't up to test standard. I also would have preferred Naholo to the slow poke Skudder.

I am glad you guys are all excited about the Boks ... I am not. We couldn't beat a very poor All Blacks side ... at home ... once again ... and there is a LOT of work still to be done ... which we all now won't be attended to by our quota coach and his bunch of assistant clowns.

Also ... I take it that we're all happy with Pieter Steff Du Toit on the blindside flank now?

He is a world class lock. I wouldn't select him out of position.

His class showed that he can play at flank if needed. An asset to the Bok jersey.

In the main I agree with your summary.   So lets look where the deficiencies are and how they can be replaced:-
*    The wings were poor and I think the powers to be should consider Nkosi. Mapimpi and Le Roux for selection
*    Fact is that both centers need to be replaced and the answer is easy - the candidates should be Janse van Rensburg, Vorster and AM
*    Jantjies will never really make it on international level,   So one has to look at Willemse and Bosch as possible candidates.    In the Junior WC Willemse  played at 12 and he was outstandi, while Bosch was substandard.   Bosch had more exposure than Willemse and his goal-kicking is good.   Since Willemse strated for WP he has shown flair and hwe is physically stronger than Bosch - while his goalkicking is slightly worse,   Both are still very young and both are thinking players.   From what I have seen I believe that Willemse would be the better prospect.
*     Cronje at scrummie is not a poor choice - he is good enough tio remain - but I would suggest schreuder or Venter as his understudy
*     Our loosies are a mess.   Kolisis I not a 6 and Louw is neither an 8, 6 or 7.  assiem is not international standard.   We need a 6 and the potential candidates are Kriel and Cloete, with a few youngsters coming through which should be looked at carefully in Super Rugby next year.   I would say that Whiteley would be a good return - he was sorel;y missed in Super Rugby,    The answer at 8 should be either of Whiteley, Du Preez or Coetzee - the latter being injured at presaent.   An ideal loose trio would be Kriel, Coetzee and Du Preez.
*    I would like to see Schicwerling becoming the bench lock for the Boks.   I like thinking players and he definitely is one.
 *   I have no real problems with Beast - although I think Kitshoff should start with VBeast coming from the bench.
*    A back up hooker should be Akker or Franci Marais - both of the Sharks

Mike ... I like your thinking.

Marcell Coetzee is only 26 and so has at least another 5 or so years in him. I always thought of him as more of a blindside flank but truth be told he can cover all the positions in the back row. Question is ... where is he most comfortable? Some say he's a 6. I don't agree. He definitely is a powerful ball carrier and to my mind best suited to the 7 jersey.

Jean Luc Du Preez to me is a natural 8th man. I would love to see him given an extended run there. We need to get as much ball to him as possible and at 8th man I think he'll see a lot of it.

Kriel is my favourite player in all the world. He is such a talent it's hard not to have his name down on the team sheet first . He too can cover all the positions in the back row ... but he is undoubtedly most comfortable at 6. He may not play to ground quite as well as Cloete does but makes up for it and then some in many other areas. His linking with the backline in the loose is amazing and sets him apart from anyone else. We are spoilt for the amount of talent we have at our loose trio.

Du Preez, Kriel, Whiteley, Coetzee, Kwagga, Ruan Ackerman ...

Why Coetzee can't put a powerful back row together is beyond me.

Regarding our biggest headache ... flyhalf ... I can quite honestly tell you that I'll be willing to accept anyone there in place of the utterly useless Jantjies. You rate Willemse as something special. I need to see him in the green jersey to see what kind of nerve he shows at test level. I would have given him a shot a long time ago. To my mind I still can't help thinking of Lionel Cronje and the massive difference he made at the Kings this year. Doesn't he deserve a shot? I think so. Heaven knows he couldn't do any worse than the piece of sh!t we currently have at 10.

I would say that we can look at the following w\ho will all be better at flyhalf:-
Willemse, Bosch, Pollard (huge question mark remains), Du Pl;essis, Du Preez, Boshoff.  That new guy at the Cheetahs,
I think I can find a few more in the  CC teams
