There were lots of instances where the Boks were let off. There should have been three cards. He made numerous critical calls that saved the day. The Boks have been the foremost beneficiaries of refs this season, so have absolutely no grounds for complaints. Were it not for some obscene ref bias, the Boks would likely be at three wins this season.

The ref was shocking - how the Boks were not awarded more scrum penalties was beyond me

Thought the Steyn penalty was bullshit when I saw it live. Would love to see a replay of the Mostert penalty for that matter.

Agree with you on the Steyn tackle.

He took the player out legally but I think the Ref nailed him for not rolling away, I would suggest.

But with the rule changes in play now who can guess what the ref saw.

I would say that the ref was not the top class ref you would hope to see in this level of rugby.

You guys get the win but you’re still complaining about the ref!!!! What about the several times the Bok tackler held the ABs player on the ground preventing him from placing the ball ? The next Bok in then went to retrieve it and the ref got sucked in to believing the AB was refusing to release the ball when in fact it was the Bok on the ground holding it!! As for DDA, that was a yellow card all day for sticking his hand out and preventing an almost certain try (2 on one overlap) I’m not saying I agree with yellow cards for this type of offence but refs are told to card this EVERY time! Why did the ref and TMO suddenly decide it was only a penalty???

Rassie made that video and released it on social media under one of his fake persona "mole"(s).

You’re right Moolaa…case in point was the penalty just before half time for not releasing, when the Bok tackler never released.

Bok fans wanted penalties because the AB scrums went back, but no offense occurred. It probably would have but Savea got the ball out very cleverly.

Then there was the Barrett ‘forward out of the hands’ pass which led to Bok points and actually changed momentum. The replay clearly shows it went backward out of the hands and possibly came off the tackler.

I thought the ref  was trying to be fair….the penalty after the kickoff was very marginal, he could easily have not called it if he was trying to bend the result.

That said many of these rules are too complex to be called consistently.

Yeah I tend to agree on the DA issue Moolaa as I called in live commentary - he was never going to catch that. Not sure it would have been a try, long way to go, but same as last week when Nkosi did prevent a certain try that way when the ABs had our defense completely bunched up in the 22 with men over outside.

Anyway, I'd enjoy a video from the other side. Refereeing and rule application is part of the game after all.
