Even as an avid Stormers supporter I have to admit that the Stormers are not the most entertaining side to watch. I agree that their style is conducive to winning rugby although it is of real concern to me that our team earns no bonus points. A loss here and has to be on the cards.
Naas da baas says if you keep winning why worry about bonus points. He lso says no side wins all their games. So what ou Naas is saying only he knows but he is not complaining given what he is paid!!!
I note the bulle are on the same points as us but have won less matches.
I would like to see the Stormers try and develope a running game a la the Cheetahs that they can turn on for periods of the game. The Cheetahs go a bit too far in terms of running rugby. They run themselves ragged . All they need to do is play conservatively for a time and catch their breath. They do need a better bench as well.
What would be of interest is to see how theStormers would go as a running team against weaker super 15 sides with a loose trio of Kolisi, Kostner and Carr. The pack would still weigh in at over 900 kg and would be very mobile. Perhaps this configuration could be used in the last 25 minurtes of a game. The power pack will have softened up the opposition and then the speedy guys can turn it on and score some tries and earn the bonus point.
Worth trying first against weaker sides?
