Adrian Strauss itching for Bok return

Pretoria - Former Springbok captain Adriaan Strauss is itching for a return to the field with the Boks next year.

Now 32, Strauss knows that he doesn't have an abundance of time left in his career. 

Having missed the Currie Cup this year to put his feet up and take a break from the game, Strauss says he is now completely focused on making the most of whatever time he has left in the game. 




"My body feels right again and I'm doing well," Strauss told Netwerk24.

"The preparation this year has been good. We've been working hard and I'm really excited about it."




The Bulls struggled in Super Rugby this year under coach Nollis Marais but John Mitchell is on board this year to try and turn the ship around and take the Bulls back to their former glory days.

Strauss confirmed that he had chatted to Mitchell about the Bulls captaincy but that no decision had been made yet. 




Strauss captained the Springboks to the worst year in their history when they won just four of 12 in 2016. He retired from international rugby at the end of that year. 

The Bulls play their first Super Rugby game of the new season when they host the Hurricanes at Loftus on February 24. 

Please don't cause further nightmares for all rugby lovers - there are enough past tense players already and most of them are below par performers.      

The 2007 final was in Durban and I w3as in a box that day,   The Sharls did NOT win the game and Habana scored the winning try after a Steyn bugger-up in minute 80.    

A fit and refreshed Strauss is a big plus for the Bulle. He is a class act. One can asses how he is doing and then think about the Boks. Strauss was rated a world class hooker. 

The oaks must not get carried away with premature assessments like ou maaaikie! Ou maaaikie I do hope we are not looking at a unhinged perfor mance in 2018!
