Craig Joubert made a few strange calls for both teams in the CC final however there was a interesting call at the minute 47:32 of the match. WP had advantage but it was advantage over before the team made use of it. Possibly one of the quickest advantage over call I've ever seen. 

Usually an advantage over call will occur when the team breaks the line or has a good opportunity in attack although that wasn't the case here at all. Normally advantage will go on much longer than that surely.

That was a poor call, even the commentators questioned it.

What are you're thoughts on this particular call?

Joubert advantages were interesting. He seemed to play very short advantages for knock ons which looked to last only until the ball cleared the breakdown or cleared where the opposition had infringed. Breakdown infringements seemed to have advantage during which time Rome May have been built. To me there was a distinct relationship between the length of advantage to the seriousness of the crime. Seemed consistent in this regard though and I thought he was quite good generally. I think he tried to let the contest flow. Was the advantage you are talking of the one where they went to the blind and the ball went into touch moments after Joubert called advantage over? Lucky he ruled it was raked by the lions and WP got the throw.

 Jerome there is little consistency in applying this rule. Maybe it should just be scrapped.
The less descretions these refs have the better!!!

The length of the advantage does depend on the level of infringement, a knock-on advantage is far shorter than a penalty advantage, e.g. off-side.

The Lions made 20 metres in one case....but that was not enough advantage for Joubert. A couple of the scrums where  Vermaak had Dreyer on  the ropes  were called for deliberately wheeling...pretty harshly I thought. While the Lions props on the opposite side to the ref did a lot of downward pulling....noted by the commentators in their elbow position comments. Also at least twice Lions players were on the deck in the middle of Stormers moving mauls....no penalty. 
Craig gets a lot of praise, but his calls are not intuitive...and he seems to get down on teams. Like the Frogs in the RWC final.

 I quite like the idea of advantage over on a knock on if you have cleared the ruck, the benefit of advantage on a knock is that you must get the ball, whether in good or bad field position.


The only time I think a knock on advantage should be blown is when a team receives the ball under pressure and have not secured it safely from a ruck.

 Joubert in the last 2 years has played a very short advantage ,at Suncorp 2 years ago it was to the detriment of both sides and the game overall .Still hes a pretty good ref .

 Warped DUD given how Craig handed the RWC to the wee abs he will forever be a firm favourite of the one eyed kbbs!Consistency is what is called for.
