A flight of delusion again. The problem is that we have to lift our game - but how do we lift a game with donkey selections? The pro blem is that you are assessing players without regard to performance and then get it wrong because of prejudice and dislike of certain players.
Lets get it staright - with players like Morne, Pienaar and Matfield in our team - there will be NO LIFTING of the game - no high degree of intensity. It can be done - if the Springboks can get away from the donkeys and those suffering from brain implosions.
Once the team has been announcd we will know what to expect on Saturday - an unchanged team and we will know exactly what to expect - zero chance of even coming near to the All Blacks.

Habana would be the only bok back . Would be good to see how an unrestrained Willie went without the kicking strategy holing him back. I would want Vermeulan somewhere. Form player of the championship for mine.

Claydog,Spot on. Jean vs Nonu, Louw vs Messam - I don't think there's any comparison. Bizzie is not up there at the moment, but he needs to be come Saturday.

Jean is a much better distributor of the ball than Nonu, and has regularly bested him head to head. Louw does a lot for the team....ball carrying, tackling, lineouts and fetching. You can make your own picks, but none of those team choices are crazy. My point being, apart from the important half back area, the teams are close player for player.

The other weak point Mozart does not mention - is we have one lock and one crinckle paper light weight in out Tight 5 - that destroys our chances further.

Mozart,It just seems so long ago that I saw Jean have an opportunity to distribute the ball, I've forgotten. We are just not seeing our backs given enough opportunity to show their worth.

Jeans brilliant, instant pass saved the Argentinian game. Check it out again, and the timing and the accuracy of his pass in the Hendriks try on Saturday. He is a better distributor than Nonu.

Mike, you are completely missing Moz's point here. You are commenting on his selections on other posts. There is nothing wrong with the team he has listed here. He has not included Pienaar, Morne or Matfield in this team, so why are you bringing them up? In fact, he has specifically noted that our halfback pairing is not on par . Keep previous prejudice out of this thread.

Really wouldn't mind seeing a 3 test series between the Southern and Northern hemispheres happen every second year.
Agree with you Mozart on Jean's distributing capabilities. Also think he has great hands.
Thought between SA and NZ there is an embarrassment of riches to fill that spot.

Ag ou Arthur leaving out Victor was tough for me. You know my philosophy...oldies but goodies. And I would defend picking Jean and Louw. Still have a good one, I'm hoping my constant teaching will finally flip that switch in your ...er...brain.

His philosophyis living in a dreamworld about elderly players still be the same quality at present - while they in fact produces near to zero. One must - I assume - put up with his flights of imagination.
Pity he has not sufficient knowledge of rugby to determien whether they are in fact performing or whether they are showponies - only a name on the teamsheet.

Must agree Claydog.
Habana is the only Bok backline player to warrant selection.
Nonu not only has better distribution skills but an excellent grubber too. Jean is known for his poor defense and for some reason cannot get the backline away.
As for the forwards, only Etzebeth and Vermeulen playing at blindside are worthy.
