Referee Nigel Owens erred when he allowed Aaron Cruden to take his kick against the Irish again, says Matt Burke

If you were watching the Ireland v New Zealand Test last weekend, you would have seen an incredible finish to what was almost an historic win for the home side.

The Irish were leading until the last moments of the game, when some wasted chances to seal victory cost them. The All Blacks did what they do best, holding onto the ball and recycling it phase after phase (something we have become used to from this team) until they scored the match-winning try.

But then it got a little bit ordinary, in my opinion,(ok sour pus former Wallaby tell us why ) because while the try was legitimate and executed well under pressure, the second chance given to kicker Aaron Cruden (who pushed his first attempt to the right) was farcical.(do you even know what that word means square jaw?)

Who was at fault? (oh please do tell us) Referee Nigel Owens.

The laws of the IRB state that defenders cannot start running down the kicker until he has initiated his run-up. Cruden does a little shimmy because he actually gets going, then pauses, before starting his run-up for real.

In my opinion, the shimmy is the start of his kick and the Irish defenders were well within their rights to start running. The laws also state that the kicker is not allowed to mislead the defending side with a 'dummy' move within his run-up. Cruden's pause could also be deemed illegal, in that case. (does that mean every time Quade Cooper does his constipated stance that the opposition can start charging?)

I couldn't believe it when Owens gave New Zealand a second bite at the cherry.(you can believe it princess) It was a bad decision.(only for you sour pus....and all the other tall poppy syndrome ABs haters ) Would it have happened to anyone but the All Blacks? I don't think so.(you better believe it - see Matt, we know the rules better than any other Team in the World and that is why Sir McCaw is the best ref assistant in the world) Owens got it terribly wrong; it was a poor call from a very experienced referee. It was also another example of New Zealand's charmed run with the officials, from who they seem to always get the rub of the green.(well Matt, we pay them enough.......for those who missed it, that was Matt's itch all along and he just scratched his square jaws with this article so full of former wallaby sour grapes LOL )

To the IRB and Nigel Owens, it's time to take a look at the laws. Kickers (including me back when I played)(WE KNOW-has been overrated MATT - you were so useless, boggles the mind why they keep picking you) have a routine as part of their run-up to kick the ball. That initial movement is 'go time' for the defenders. It's time for change.

I do not how to do it - but why don't somebody try and put that particular sequence of events on the site - so that we can look at it again?   WE can then make up our minds what Cruden did in the process without having to rely on a newspaper article.  

 Beeno is correct and obviously one of the few that can see the reality/s at play here. there is absolutely no question that the kiwis consistently get the help of bent refs - im sure AIGs are paying some cash into the IRB coffers or ref panel at some level here its just too consistently one-sided.

Irish lost that game by not kicking the ball out with 30 secs to go - but the ref in the 2nd half was completely and utterly fraudulent and obviously AIGs had a lot invested in the game.........................
