In the wake of Scott Robertson's dismissal as head coach, the rugby world has been buzzing with speculation and insider reports. All Blacks prop Tamaiti Williams, however, expressed his surprise at allegations of a player revolt, stating he was completely unaware of any such discontent within the team.

Following a detailed review of the 2025 season by New Zealand Rugby, which involved interviews with coaching staff and key players, the decision was made to sever ties with Robertson. This review came after claims emerged of significant unrest among players, including Ardie Savea, who reportedly considered leaving for clubs in Japan or Europe if Robertson remained in his role.

David Kirk, New Zealand Rugby chairman, strongly denied any player-led conspiracy to oust Robertson.

"There was definitely no revolt. The players were very measured and thoughtful in their responses,"

Kirk defended, dismissing the notion that Savea spearheaded any rebellion.

Amidst preparations for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific season with the Crusaders, Williams shared his perspective:

"Definitely not to my knowledge. I’m a player. I get told to run into people and tackle people as well. So whoever the coaches were and whoever they’re going to be, I have full trust in, and I guess it’s my job just to buy in 100%,"

he explained, emphasizing his commitment to whatever leadership is in place.

While the shake-up has left many reeling, Williams spoke fondly of Robertson, sending

"a lot of love and prayers to Razor and his family."

He remains optimistic about the future and the new coaching setup, hoping that Jason Ryan, a former Crusaders assistant who worked with the All Blacks, retains his position in the coaching staff.

In addition to Williams, teammates like Noah Hotham and Sevu Reece also commented on the situation. Hotham described the recent developments as "crazy news," having been out of the loop during the end-of-year tour, while Reece highlighted his personal connection with Robertson,

"He gave me the opportunity here down at the Crusaders, made my dreams come true. I owe so much to him,"

Reece reflected.

Rob Penney, speaking from the Crusaders headquarters, expressed sympathy for Robertson, affirming his welcome anytime. The rugby community now watches closely as New Zealand Rugby navigates this transitional period, hoping for stability and success in future engagements.
