interesting to see warburton on the bench, o_O,,, but tipuric is a fantastic flanker and nothing will be lost with tipuric starting.

Warburton is coming off an Injury. It's Italy. He can play 20 minutes, or maybe 40. No need to give him the full go.

Thanks Sasuke!! These threads are a big help.

I copied the team from Wales with the player numbers included.  Some members may not know the NH teams well and the player numbers may be helpful in making selection:-

Wales: 15 Leigh Halfpenny, 14 Alex Cuthbert, 13 Scott Williams, 12 Jamie Roberts, 11 George North, 10 Rhys Priestland, 9 Mike Phillips, 8 Taulupe Faletau, 7 Justin Tipuric, 6 Dan Lydiate, 5 Alun Wyn Jones (captain), 4 Luke Charteris, 3 Adam Jones, 2 Richard Hibbard, 1 Paul James.
Replacements: 16 Ken Owens, 17 Ryan Bevington, 18 Rhodri Jones, 19 Andrew Coombs, 20 Sam Warburton, 21 Rhys Webb, 22 James Hook, 23 Liam Williams.

We may all encounter a budgetary problem in the team selection and I am looking with some interest in getting a few cheap players in - for instance in the lock positions - where I  in the Lions competition picked the cheapest lock imaginable - even though that lock would get no game time.   I am looking at Coombes here to play that role in the case of the 6 Nations - at least he may get some game time.

Clevermike: yes I did the same with my S15 selections, i.e. some really cheap reserves that will not be selected but give me more money to select some good but expensive starters.
I will have to see who gets selected to start the games in the first week & adjust before the game but that is my approach. Can't see any other way to do it.

 Just win

The only selections I have made thus far is Halfpenny and North - my two bankers in the competition - but they are bloody expensive and nearly 25% of my funds are gone.

For the s15 comp, any ideas on good Lions players? I haven't picked any Lions players yet for round 1.

 Just Win

I just sent an e-mail to Foxsport to update their list of players and mentioned specifically that there seems to be players ,missing from the list.  They said the squad will be finalized this week and I think that there may be one or two others worth selecting - but did not see their names listed,   I will come back to you wh en the final list is available.

The only Lions player I can think of outright is Stokkies Hanekom at Center.   Very impressive and probably a good enough cheap proposition.

The 6 Nations tournament is on Test Rugby - just google it and you will find it.  Then follow the guidelines as to membership application - very simple - and you have to join a group/league.  The one we all belong to is Stupidzone - Code SZ

From there the player selection process is technically easy - but complicated financially - since you get a budget and has to select players within a restricted financial situation.   That is where you will beat us all - you would know which of the cheap players are really the best options.

In Test Rugby you have to pick only twelve players.   Those are in the following categories with in each category two players:-

Front Row - stick here to hookers, they generally score more points than props

Locks

Back Row

Halfbacks - stick as far as possible here with flyhalfs or even scrumhalves who kick at goal.

Centers

Outside backs - include both wings and full backs

For some reason or other locks and props are lower point scorers than other positions - so for budgetary purposes I save money by putting in cheaper players  at lock.

Once you get used to it - you will enjoy it.   Oi-matey is an expert and even though - like you - he cannot watch all the games - he makes top selections week after week - so that is really not an essential.

In Super 15 the situation for Test Rugby is the same in  as for the 6 Nations.   But for Foxsport it  different in Super 15 and much more enjoyable.   There again you have to identify the cheaper players as bankers and you know a lot more about the cheap youngsters in SA than we do.  All the cheap players are virtually in SA franchises and for the rest you can then select top test players like Ben Smith, Folau etc. I for instance has already "booked" Pieter-Steph as a banker this year.

Try it and once you get the heck of it you will enjoy the game.   The real enjoyment is the keenness with which you watch games to see how your selected players perform.

I agree with Canrugby. There's no point risking Warburton against Italy, especially when you have a quality replacement like Tipuric.

I do think Warburton will be back in the side for the rest of the tournament (otherwise why would they have named him as captain?) and although it's likely that Tipuric will be the one who gives way, they may also consider playing two fetchers in some games in which case Dan Lydiate might end up on the bench.

C'mon Wales!

Thanks a lot.   The  English team was on Supersport - but is not on any website yet.

I think my budgetary problems have been solved with the above selections.  I have found the three cheap players needed - plus one medium range one.   Can now choose for the remainder the mist expensive players around and still have some funds in reserve.

There are two weird selections in the French team -   10 Jules Plisson, 4 Alexandre Flanquart.  As far as memory goes the latter plays for Stade Francais - and is a very passable lock forward,

I have now have a hooker,  two looses and a flyhalf to go for.   Probably Hibbard and Sexton - and the two loosies are a toss-up

Got it now - Le Roux played for Boland for two years and is now with Racing Metro.  Had three caps for France in 2012 - but I do not think he started for them.

Plisson is the livewire flyhalf for Stade Francais - who kicked at  goal for them,   He is to my mind a better flyhalf than Morne Steyn could ever be - and I am happy to pick him for my squad.

Sasuke is right. I just checked and Bernard Le Roux did start for France against the All Blacks in the 2nd of the 3 June tests played between the two countries earlier this year. He was also on the bench for the 3rd of those tests. Can't say I remember seeing him do much . . . but then again those tests were all a bit one sided.
