all teams named for round 14,,,
howdy all,
special congrats to oimatey who is now sarugbys sole rep in the foxsport cup challenge, im sure all the boys will be cheering for him hard this week, :o)
regarding the teams this week in round 14, the kings have a bye and the sharks have announced their team very early this week,
and here is a link with all the match officials for rnd14
www.sarugby.com/forum.cfm
match of the round looks to be the blues v crusaders and the waratahs v brumbies, but theres also a good conference v conferece rumble with the reds v cheetahs.
good luck to everyones teams in both fantasy rugby and the spXV, especially oimatey, :o)
Sasue
I had some time to spare and looked at the Cup progression by both oi-matey and the players that beat you, Rooinek and myself in the various rounds and put a threadon it on site.
From it it was clear that Round 12 was a dream round for most members and Round 13 mostly a disaster. Roinek cae down in pointa by a smaller percentage than the other members from our league did - but we all suffered badly.
I do not know what to do this weekend. The Hurricanes are returning fromn SA and they will suffer from jet lag when they play the Chiefs. So maybe I should just keep my Chiefs players unaltered, with the exception of getting rid of Anscombe - or make three other changes and leave him on the bench - if I need to make some other unexpected changes. What must be do with Brier? he will be gone till after the Lions tour I assume. May have to sell him to.
Another bad egg is Ben Smith and the Highlanders - they struggled against the Kings and I can see the Bulls slaughtering them. And then the million dollar question as well - what will happen between the Reds and the Cheetahs. On form the Reds should beat them easily - but coming from Australia and having to play at high altitude in Bloemfontein is fraught with problems.
Not sure about the Waratahs - Brumbies game - it could be more difficult for the Brumbies than their first encounter was. I give the Rebels a very good chance to beat the Stormers - they are indeed in disarray. I think the Sharks may just beat the Western Force though.
Lastly the Blues - Crusaders game - a very hard one to call. However, I am going to stick my neck out and say the Crusaders are going to beat the Blues fair and square. That presents me with another problem - I do not have ant Crusader players in my fantasy selection and may end up with real problems if I try and change the locks to bring in Romano. May go for Carter to replace Anscombe though - but that would largely depend on what teams are announced.
I think all the SA teams will be announced by tomorrow afternoon - SA time - but with two Sunday games involving the Highlanders and the Reds and the Brumbies, Blues and Crusaders playing on saturday - it is highly likely that the fantasy deadline will be missed by some teams. Especially the Brumbies and Blues are always lethargic in announcement of teams and the Highlanders is notorious in the relevant regard.

San Cane - the only 7 in Hansen's training squad is apparently suffering from "back strain" - wonder how long he will be out of circulation?
??
The injury to O'Connor is problematic insofar as a replacement is concerned. In view of the Lions situation I think he will be out of Super Ruby until after the Lions tour - so I wil haveto relace him. Center replacement is a problem - since most centers are actually reflected in Foxport in different positions.
I am desperate and even thinking of selecting Meyer Bosman at center - since there is NO CERTAINTY that Jan Serfontein would play either. I think that may be the better choice - since Jantjies is going to play - neutralizing De Villiers and all te other centers in New Zealand has problems and the one star at center - Leafitano is reflected as a flyhalf. The only other option is Inman - maybe that would be the way to go. What do you people think?

Replacements : 16. Ben Funnell ,17. Joe Moody, 18. Dominic Bird ,19. Luke Whitelock, 20. Willi Heinz, 21. Adam Whitelock, 22. Israel Dagg
Dagg on bench again. Surely Piutau is getting serious consideration as AB fullback.
CM - what about Willison (Blues - supposed to be starting over Saili) or Horne (Waratahs)? Horne gives you the option of someone who is probably playing Round 17. Neither one has plus match-ups this week however
oi-matey
Thanks for the advice. I think Horne would be the better option of the two. I am also thinking about bringing in Fuglistaller or Hodgson in as a loosie as well for the purpose of Round 17.
Dagg was in bad form all games he played in and I do not think that they would play him against the French. They would prefer - I believe - a player like Piuitau who is more of a running and attacking full back in any tests against the French.
*update*
crusaders, bulls, cheetahs, stormers, chiefs, hurricanes, rebels have all been updated, :o)
in regards to dagg, to think that he wouldnt be selected for the All Blacks is viable only if current form is the one and only basis for selection.
hansen has proved many times that its not and while dagg is a little out of touch, i would be shocked if hes not fullback for the first test.
All Blacks main problem for the future is the No12, so ben smith to start on the wing with dagg at fullback, this covers us for the outside backs and prob saili or ranger for the bench.
Sas - I see your point on Dagg and Hansen's selection history and it will probably happen but I hope it doesn't - he hasn't earned it this year.
I'm assuming you think Nonu and Smith start at center?
As is normally the case with team announcements the following teams are still not annunced:-
* Reds
* Highlanders
The Highlanders is are serial offender insofar as late team announcements are concerned. The programme printers must really hate the buggers and I can assure you I share that feeling.
I have only one player left in the Foxsport selections which are in teams awaiting confirmation, namely Will Genia.
The Reds and the Highlanders - being in SA - will probably announce their teams sometime today (SA time).
In the meantime I have searched the Franchises websites and the local newspapers for the required info and found nothing on the two outstanding teams. Any other suggestions will be welcomed.
I have at present four injured players on the bench. If the above three players (Genia, Folau and Cowan) are in their teams to be announced, I will be able to replace 1 of those four players this Round and two in the next Round - especially in view of the upcoming Round 17. I will replace one player this round with a player I am sure will not be in the Wallaby squad - possibly Inman, but will wait for the Wallaby squad announcement to deal with the others. Hearing some doubts whether Labuschagne will in fact take the field - I will make a certain bench selection to cover that eventuality..
Blues
1 Tim Perry, 2 Keven Mealamu, 3 Angus Ta'avao, 4 Culum Retallick, 5 Ali Williams, 6 Stevcen Luatua, 7 Luke Braid, 8 Peter Saili, 9 Piri Weepu, 10 Chris Noakes, 11 George Moala, 12 Jackkson Willison, 13 Rene Ranger, 14 Frank Halai, 15 Charles Piutau
Replacements
16 Quintin Macdonald, 17 Sam Pratley, 18 Anthony Boric, 19 Brendon O'Connor, 20 Jamison Gibson-Park, 21 Baden Kerr, 22 Francis Saili
Nothing really unexpected - although Moala is in judicial trouble and I would have preferred Francis Saili to Willison

force, waratahs, brumbies & blues have been updated, thanks boys, :o)
i wonder if dan palmer is injured??? white has pretty much said he will only be playing his top team from now on, so im guessing he is. IMO sio/moore/alexander is a far better frontrow anyways.
i wonder if kev will be able to last at least 60mins against the crusaders, he might be keen to continue his rugby career fir as long as he can, but his body might have the final say. prob better if it does and save hansen an uncomfortable chat between now and the RWC.
@oimatey,
if both nonu and smith are fit, i do think they will be hansens first choice. i can live with nonu TBH, hes not in form, but hes the best All Black 12 at the moment and always perform once in black.
players like francis saili have prob been in better form, but form not convincing enough to walk in and be the incumbent, so nonu via default almost gets it but luckily as i mentioned, he always performs when playing for the All Blacks.
conrad smith on the other hand is a different story, given the form that ranger is in at the moment, IMO now is the perfect time to start that transition and give ranger as much gametime as possible to start building his All Black resume, especially with the RWC only 2 years away.
snake has been a very loyal and excellnt player for the All Blacks, but its the perfect time for a changing of the guard. not going to happen though which is a shame.
Sasuke, Palmer's exclusion is something of a mystery even if you read the article on Rugbyheaven where they talk about his "absence".
They don't mention any injury nor do they mention any other reason for him not being picked, they just talk about him being "ruled out" and what a "massive blow" it is. Something very fishy going on there!
Edit: Perhaps not so fishy after all. Just checked on Planet Rugby and they quote Joke White as saying: ". . . the Brumbies wouldn't lose any impact with the loss of Palmer, who is being rested from the matchday 22 for precautionary reasons due to a foot niggle. "
@rooy,
thanks for that, i just read the article and there really are going to be some mouthwatering clashes in this game, but aussie darbies have a habbit of letting us down, i dont think that will be the case here though with micheal cheika making real headways with the waratahs pro attacking policy.
do u know much about ruaan smith the saffa prop who will be on the brumbies bench???
It looks to me mor and more thatthe Reds and the Highlanders are only going to announce their teams tomorroq (SA time) - which team announcement will be after the closing toime for the fantsy sport competition. There is really nothing we can do - but hope that the players we selected are in fact in the teams to be announced. My only problem is Genia - but I do not expect that he would be out of the Reds team sheet.
Sasuke, I missed your question earlier but I can tell you that I know nothing about Ruan Smith other than he was with the Force last year and hardly got any game time.
Ou Maaik, I also have Will Genia as well as James Slipper in the FoxSport Fantasy comp and I have Quade Cooper in my Testrugby team and I'll be very surprised if any of those don't start.
i cant imagine mackenzie not playing his star players, especially against the cheetahs and in SA no less. top that of with he wont have the services of his stars for too much longer, and its even more reason for the reds to have as strong a team as possible.
@rooy,
so he played for the force, thats a still a lot more then i knew about him, lolz, :oP
do u think theres a chance that we might get unlimited transfers in testrugby for round 17, the way we did during round 1???
would make things a hell of lot easier selection wise now if that was the case.
I hope they are proud of their accomplishment CM !
My real poser is TJ Ioane whom I fear will be replaced or platoon with Tuiali'i

reds have been updated, :o)
fingers crossed that highlanders name thier team in time aye, or even better that theres no crazy surprises, :o/
CM - I find the easiest to just go to google and type in "reds rugby" or "highlanders rugby" or whatever and peruse the articles.
Will have to make a decision here soon on the Highlanders.
Oi-matey
I do the same - but the team must have been posted on the website after my previous visit to the site.
The stuff on the Highlanders site is a week old - and the same article I referred to previously is still the latest news on team selection.
