I have just about iven up on the Foxsport Rund 17 squad and am going to try and make sure that round 18 would be back to normal. So I might just have about 8 or 9 players in Round 17 and bugger the consequences. will be trying out the same and hope for the best in that round.
I wonder why Foxsport did not start a Fantasy Competition forthe 3 week June test season and the same with Test Rugby. Would have been interesting if that happens.

rebels and waratahs have been updated, :o)
IMO the waratahs wont be playing grayson hart (son of former AB coach john hart) or terence hepetema, waratahs still have the slimmest of chances to make the finals, it does depend on other results to go their way, but its better then no chance like anything south of the the hurricanes.
with everything going on i havent even thought about brother oimateys dilemma at the moment.
hes going head to head with golorious bastard who has a wildcard up his sleeve, but only three players available for this weekend.
he currently holds No1 rank in both leagues that hes in and also No2 in the head to head league>
by my best guesstimation, theres no way he wont be playing his wildcard this weekend if he wishes to both hold that lead an progress further in the cup challenge meaning a full team.
this leaves oimatey with 8 players already in, plus his 6 transfers, so hes already going to be a man down if he chooses to not play the wildcard, its not out of the equation to beat someone with one player less, but is that a risk oimateys willing to take??? o_O
i will be following with a lot of intrest the path master oimatey takes this round, i dont envy the headaches, but i do wish him all the best, :o)

The budget on Test Rugby is ridiculous - The prices of the Lions players are virtually all in excess of R1 100 000 and you have to make allowances for some Reds players like Copper and Hanson - also bloody expensive. I squeezed in some Reds players - because the Lios players are so bloody expensive - so I will probably dop down to last on the league log.
What a mess.
Ou Maaik, I don't know why you think you're going to drop away just because the prices are high. The prices are the same for everybody and we all have the same budget problems as you.
I tried to squeeze in a bit of extra cash by clearing out my team from last week early (while the prices were still high) and buying players who I thought would play this week (while their prices were low). My gamble nearly paid off but now I have a real disaster. I sold Manu Tuilagi and I bought Jamie Roberts, so now I have to use an extra transfer to reverse my stuff up and I'm down to 11 transfers for next week. Basically, if at least one of my Lions doesn't get selected to play two games in a row I'm going to be short a player next weekend!
Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
*update*
lions have been updated, :o)
must have been a sixth sense or something, but in preperation for the lions/reds game, i sold all my players except for odriscoll and tuilagi, so at least i dont have to transfer tuilagi back in, :o)
@mikey,
i think were all going to be in the same money is tight boat, but if u think its bad now, whats it going to be like when the first test comes a knocking??? o_O
is there going to be anyone worth less then a million??? O_o
This will probably be the cheapest testrugby team I've ever put together.
Hahaha.....one player is bottom of the log (Maaik).....another is short a player ( RooiAas). But it figures....why should someone like Maaik who wanted Taute and Jordaan in the Bok team....or Rooiaas who picked Deysel ahead of Juan smith.....why should these dopes be any good at a selection game.
Why don't you give it a try then, mozart?
Ah, I see. You should give it a shot again. I'm sure everyone would enjoy it. ;)
Well, as you probably know, pro sports in North America is a little different then in SA. Just because the team is in a country doesn't mean the players are from that country. Bostons best players are from Canada. Pittsburgh has the best player in the league on it and he's from Canada. LA and Chicago are loaded with talented Canadians as well. Just the way it goes over here...with only 7 teams in Canada out of 30 the odds are unfortunately against us. Wait for the Winter Olympics next year and then we will see who is the best.
Don't you live in St. Louis?
Moz - best steak I ever had was at Gibson's on Rush - the Chicago Cut. Loved the atmosphere too - jam-packed, real classy people. Waiters all older men that knew the menu back to front - I think thats the best indication of a good restaurant as the waiters don't stick around if its no good.
Can - what you say about professional sports in N America is true. I remember when the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series in 1992 and the story we got in South Africa was about the accomplishment of a Canadian team to beat America's best. Problem was the Blue Jays had a few Latino's and the rest were Americans - no actual Canadians :)
Moz - He was one of the best. Him and Adam Oates were a good combo.
Oimatey - I remember that. They actually won back to back. Off the top of my head I don't think there was one Canadian on either of those teams. One problem over here is is most of the money, and population is in the US. Canada really only has 3 major cities, and even two of those are small when you really look at major cities of the world. We just can't support that many teams in the North American market where there is Football, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey.
Mozart
You really do not know what you are talking about. There are five competitions involving rubgy and I am 2nd in one and third in four others - So I am not as bad as you give me out to be. I know why you could never participate - because you are clueless as to the selection of players and you will end up bottom of the log all the time.
In any event you do not have a clue how the system works and how player transfers should be handled - so you are a nice one to make remarks about something you know zero about. Mind you that is nothing new in your case - your ignorance on matters relating to rugby players are legendary and you constantly punt the donkeys in tams.
In any event - what are you doing here - this is relating to fantasy games and you have stated that it bores you - so why are you here.
Moz - I think it was closer to $50 (if you plan on going :) so it was also the most expensive steak I've eaten, haha ! The best part was that the wife also got one and only ate a little of hers, so I was in a steak bliss coma. The rest of the table got filets, petit this and petit that - what a waste !!
Chicago pizza also excellent. We plan on going back with the kids and take them to Field Museum, Art Museum etc.
Sas - it is indeed a dilemna regarding the wild card. I will probably leave open the scrummie spot and give it a shot with the current roster. Too much risk to play wildcard now, be down 1 player for Round 18 already and then pick 8 bench players now who could get hurt during the June tests or rested in Round 18 :(
I was really hoping I would come across someone in this round who hadn't played their wildcard, but it is what it is.
oi-matey
I do agree with you about using of the wildcard - I am indeed sorry I have used mine already. The problem is that with the lot of Wallaby players and injuries out of contention - Round 17 is a lottery ticket. The best is to be one player short and hope the lottery ticket works out. I have decided to take my losses - and make sure I have a full tam in Round 18 again.
Problem is that if you use your wildcard with the lottery component present - you may struggle to gt rid of the players within the subsequent three rounds. I have taken 8 key players in my bnch and left one player - whom I intend and two players I intend to use in Round 18 in my team and will then have a full team in Round 18.
The situation is bad - and I think you should save your wildcard for later in the comp.
Good advice CM, thanks
@oimatey,
considering ur only going to be a man dow in the halfback area, thats sweet as IMO, halfback is the lowest scoring position of all positions, so even though ur opponent will only have one position more then u, its not a huge advantage. theres also a good chance he might just save his wildcard for rnd 18, hes got to know that the chenages he makes now by using his wildcard will surely see him out of the 8, unless hes piped against someone the exact same position he is, so froma lofic point of view, he should just bow out of the cup and play his wildcard and consolidate his position in his own league.
either way, i would be feeling comfortable,e specially cos its only the halfback.
@mikey,
i remmeber giving u sound advice about not playing ur wildcard and advising u to save it for round 17 where it was goping to be needed, LMAO, :oD
dont worry thougn bro, theres some veterans of the game in the other league im in who are in the same boat.
if u do forsake this round, will u be using all 6 transfers to best prepare urself for round 18???, or will be using some if not all to at least soften the points loss blow???
good luck to both of either way, :o)
I have over 3 million left with a full team. LOL-This weekend should be fun!
It was really tough picking the Lions / Reds Testrugby lineup. Not as many good bargains in the Reds squad. Ended up with 6 Lions and 6 Reds. Really had to think long and hard about including Cooper. I think the Lions will be out for his head as not only would it mean winning the game on Saturday, but possibly eliminating him from inclusion by Deans in the Wallabies if he was to have a bad game.
Oi-matey
I was too ashamed to admit it - but I also ended up with 6 Reds players and 6 Lions players
My six Reds players are the following:-
* Hanson and Cooper - straight choices as I prefer hookers and goalkicking flyhalfs - more or less merit choices
* Simmonds and O'Donoghue - danage control since they are cheaper and locks often enough are not great pointscorers
* Butler and Rod Davies - budget balancing acts - hope the damage is not too severe
Where do we differ in the above regard?
CM, I picked similarly:
The two Reds locks O'Donoghue and Wallace-Harrison (I hope by Simmons above you meant Wallace-Harrison), hooker Hanson, loosie Quirk, Cooper and Davies.
Lions: Stevens, Faletau, Farrell, Davies, Tuilagi, Bowe.
Oi-matey
Thanks for pointing out my error tpo me - I changed Simmonds to the Lions lock - so I am having at least a full team playing. Have now only got 12 trades left for the next round.
I think my adice to you on teh wild card issue was wrong. Your oppoent did use his wild card and seems to be far in the lead. However, the quesion remains - would you have changed your seleections drastically if you did use your wildcard? If you would have the anwer is simple - both you and I were tight - because it would have been an exercise in futulity in such an event. .
I got 6 and 6 as well
Tom Youngs
James Hanson
O'Donoghue
Geoff Parling
Warburton
Jake Shatz
Ben Youngs
Quade Cooper
Tuilagi
Tapuai
Stuart Hogg
Rod Davies
CM, using the wild card would not have changed my selections. He had some guys that had their best scoring weeks of the whole year (Henderson, Jones, Faingaa) and Speight also had one of his best. Just how it goes :)
Of the remaining players I definitely have the advantage I think, but not enough to make up this early difference.
Sas - B&I Lions lineup change: Gethin Jenkins out , Mako Vunipola replaces Jenkins and Dan Coles on the bench.
Ryan Grant joining Lions from Scotland tour of South Africa which further weakens an already under-strength side.
