all teams named for round 5 *fantasy rugby participants*
howdy all,
all the regulars will be aware of how this thread rolls, but for any newbies teams are listed in order of when they will play and the home team will always be named first.
as teams are named i will update the original thread accordingly and post a reply indictaing which team has been updated and also to bump the article back to the top of archives.
good luck to all our fantasy rugby and suprbru participants, :o)

Thank once again. I am beginning to love the Kings and detest Kirwan - may his balls get fried if he is late again next time they play. LOL The bye are going to destroy me and I may yet end up with only 14 players again if I use onlly 4 changes and I cannot afford that. It bothers me to use the wildcard now - but I may have to do it and clean up my selections. Am not impressed with Smith - but they were up against a vey determined defending team and maybe I should stick with him for a while. Maybe I should accept the inevitable and go with 14 players again.
Hell I hate the Aussies too. Why did the bloddy Ioane got himself drunk again LOL
Have to replace Pocock - and Labuschagne is a certainty. My other problem is at OB - all that becaue of Digby - I want to go with Savea - but have to get anouther One - may be Williams.
But then I am really in sheiz with th scrummy and lock positions - my bench was Wykes at lock and Kingi as scrummy. I could never get to a stage where I could change them - wish Etzebeth comes back soonest.
@mikey,
i quickly checked out ur team and theres no reason why u cant feild 15 players???
1 transfer for ur loose forwards and insideback and two for ur outside backs, so provided their arent any crazy selections or last minute injuries, u should be all good???
for ur outside backs, savea, nani williams and mogg are good candidates, im definately going to roll with julian savea, i mean Lordf have mercy on all his opponents if he continues to play that way, most destrcutive winger since lomu, o_O.
another possible wildcard is george smith who had an awesome game againstt he waratahs, i havent been to impreessed with the sharks so far, so he might be worth a good shot, but labuschange is who im prob goiong to pick, especially as theres a good chance that messam might not be playing against the kings.
The Hurricanes have benched Andre Taylor . . .
Hurricanes: 15 James Marshall, 14 Alapati Leiua, 13 Conrad Smith (captain), 12 Tim Bateman, 11 Julian Savea, 10 Beauden Barrett, 9 TJ Perenara, 8 Victor Vito, 7 Karl Lowe, 6 Brad Shields, 5 Jason Eaton, 4 Jeremy Thrush, 3 Ben May, 2 2. Motu Matu'u / Ash Dixon, 1 Ben Franks.

hurricanes have been updated thanks to rooinek, :o)
FYI the reserve hooker has not been named for the hurricanes, as it depends on wether motu matuu is fit.
motu matuu is currently battaling a shoulder injury and if he is declared fit, i would imagine ash dixon going to the bench with new hurricanes recruit and former highlander jason rutledge to hop on the bench.
Yes, Jason Rutledge the plumber getting the call from the selectors to drop his tools and answer the call of duty reminds me of the legendary Springbok Boy Morkel who was working on his farm in Potchefstroom when the selectors told him he was needed to lead the Springboks against New Zealand way back in 1921 when our two great sides had never played a single test match against one another. Will be a great if Rutledge gets onto the park, especially against his old team.
Seriously? The selectors told him he was needed to "lead the Springboks" when he was on his farm in Potch? But the Springbok captain for the tour was Theo Pienaar, who was badly concussed in Oz and never made his way back to the test team. The captaincy then went to vice captain Boy Morkel.
Man those selectors in those days were sharp....foreseeing all this, weeks in advance, they told Boy on his farm, he was needed to lead the Boks.
RooiAAS old chap, once again you have your facts wrong...and sadly it's so silly, you having this emotional reaction, all based on wrong facts.
Waratahs named . . .
NSW Waratahs: Israel Folau, Lachie Turner, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Berrick Barnes, Peter Betham, Bernard Foley, Brendan McKibbin, Pat McCutcheon, Michael Hooper, Dave Dennis, Kane Douglas, Sitaleki Timani, Paddy Ryan, John Ulugia, Benn Robinson.
Replacements: Luke Holmes, Jeremy Tilse, Mitchell Chapman, Lopeti Timani, Matt Lucas, Ben Volavola, Rob Horne
Moffie: "Yawn, this whole Fantasy Rugby thing is so boring! I really wish we could ban any talk of Fantasy Rugby on this board. Boring boring boring! I hate reading about Fantasy Rugby. The pricing of the players is boring, the scoring is boring, everything about Fantasy Rugby is just so booooooooring! When people talk about Fantasy Rugby it makes me want to cry! Sniff! I wish these Fantasy Rugby managers would shut up about boring Fantasy Rugby. Yaaaaaaawn! Who wants to talk about boring old Fantasy Rugby anyway? It’s just so bori . . .
Hang on one sweet second, what is this? A thread with the words “Fantasy Rugby” in the title??? Oh boy, I’d better click on this immediately!"
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha!
A tip for all you fantasy rugby types who are so often detached from reality. Don't overpay for hyped nz backs. When they play SA sides their performance drops. Eg Lomu never scored a test try against the Boks. Julius Savea, a lesser player, will not be as effective as he is against wee kiwi sides. Use it dont lose it.
As for ou rooitwit - pawned again ! bwahahhahahahahaha. By the way rooitwit your "rugby" comment re Boy Morkel was not a fantasy rugby related item although it was fantasy.
Bulls and Crusaders named . . .

hey rooitwit not too many flyhalves in your starting 15. Hehhehehehehe
Sasue and Rooinek
Careful - there is a bugger -up in the Bulls team. The article said that Mapoe has injured his shoulder and he is being replaced by Jurgen Visser on the wing. Yet when the team was quoted Mapoe was retained. Does not make sense to me
Well spotted ou Maaik. I'm certain that's a mistake and Mapoe should be Visser. I will edit my post and make the correction there.
Cheetahs unchanged . . .
Cheetahs: 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Willie le Roux, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Robert Ebersohn, 11 Raymond Rhule, 10 Johan Goosen, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Philip van der Walt, 7 Pieter Labuschagne, 6 Frans Viljoen, 5 Francois Uys, 4 Lodewyk de Jager, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Adriaan Strauss (c), 1 Trevor Nyakane.

"As for ou rooitwit - pawned again ! bwahahhahahahahaha. By the way rooitwit your "rugby" comment re Boy Morkel was not a fantasy rugby related item although it was fantasy. "
Ja, you're right Hasbeen, I guess he was badly pawned, to use his silly term. And then the poor oke hides behind that fact that it's a fantasy rugby string...as if he is safe from a beating on such a string. But it's probably fair, he does need some kind of sanctuary.
Pffffffffffffffhahahahaha! Did Baboon-ou say "pawned" instead of "pwned"? Wehe, I missed that!
The only ones getting pwned on this thread are Baboon-ou and Moffie. My comments about Boy Morkel are based on Paul Dobson's book "The Chosen". So, who to believe? Paul Dobson or Moffie? Gosh, this is a difficult choice!
On the one hand we have Paul Dobson . . . internationally acclaimed rugby historian, rugby writer, rugby coach, rugby referee, recipient of an IRB Award for Distinguished Service and author of many rugby books including The Official History of South African Rugby and Doc: An Autobiography of Danie Craven as well as biographies on Nick Mallett and Andre Watson.
On the other hand we have Moffie . . . an ignorant, pompous and lifeless liar who hangs around a rugby board when he doesn’t even know the fundamentals of the game; doesn’t know what number jersey the different props wear; doesn’t know how to number a team; doesn’t even know what a Grand Slam is and tries to ingratiate himself into the rugby community either by churning out boring and meaningless stats that he doesn’t even understand or else trying to hide behind what other people say and making laughable statements like “Well Bobbie (sic) said so, so the case is closed!”
Like I said, it’s a really tough choice!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
PWNED!
Yes we have definitely touched a nerve. But the facts are simple....when the team was announced Boy Morkel ( corrected) was the vice captain. And if Theo Pienaar was the designated captain for the whole tour....how could Boy Louw have been approached on his farm, to captain the Boks weeks if not months later. Paul may have got this wrong, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt and just say, you misinterpreted his comment.
Huh? Boy Louw? Who even mentioned Boy Louw, Moffie? Do you know that it's Boy Morkel we're talking about here?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaha!
You're not touching any nerves, chump, I'm literally laughing out loud! Like I'd believe a moron like you rather than Paul Dobson! Too funny for words!
You know Moffie . . . I assume it's you anyway, it's hard to tell with all that egg sliding down your fat face . . . but either way, just some friendly advice. You need to recognize those moments in life when you've made a complete and utter dick of yourself and it's better just to stay down. This is one of those moments, Moffie. Stay down.
Because I inadvertantly said Boy Louw vs Boy Morkel? No I don't think so.....stop dodging....just tell us how you thought this happened. There's a good chap.
You want me to answer your question as it stands now, Moffie? Are you sure you don't want to do one more embarrassing "correction" before I answer it?
Wehe!
Oh and please note the correct spelling is "inadvertently", you illiterate buffoon. No need to thank me, old man . . . I live to give!
Thanks....now perhaps you can produce the passage from the book.

waratahs, crusaders, bulls and cheetahs have been updated thanks to rooinek, :o)
Sasue
Please my friend - can you not start another thread and copy the teams to that one - this thread became infested with irrelevant infighting.
In my book the Sharks is playing the Brumbies this weekend - but there is no space for inclusion of those two teams. I know the shock of the win of the Hurricanes upset you a lot - but I did not think it would go as far as all that . LOL
Sure.
From "The Chosen" by Andy Colquhoun and Paul Dobson; Chapter 39 "Boy Morkel" on page 191 of the original 2003 edition:
Boy Morkel, greatest of forwards, had virtually retired from rugby in 1921. After all, he was nearly 37 years of age., and he was farming in the Potchefstroom District of Western Transvaal. The message came from the national rugby selectors: "Please come and lead the Springboks against the greatest threat to their greatness, the might of New Zealand."
Now, if you have an issue with that extract, please write a strongly worded letter to messrs Colquhoun and Dobson and tell them that you know better than them. If they don't reply, perhaps you can send the letter again and this time, tell them you know a lot about stats . . . and maybe show them a picture of your house . . . and tell them you're taller than Dave . . . maybe then they'll write back!
LMAO!
Spot the irony! The Fantasy Rugby thread which was very clearly marked as a Fantasy Rugby thread gets hijacked by the pathetic little crybaby who moaned and bleated about how much he hates Fanatsy Rugby!
Wehe . . . poor old egg-faced Moffie . . . not on his best form today!
@rooinek,
i remember a similar story with the All Blacks involving All Black legend brian lahore.
he had retired in 1970 and when the lions came to tour NZ, the selectors asked him to come out of retirement and play one more game for the All Blacks.
his wife came home to find a note on the fridge saying, off to wellington to play for the All Blacks, be back on sunday, LMAO, :oD
men back in those days were real men, worked hard all week, and trained after a hard days work. the game might have evolved and gotten faster and more professional and those athletes fo yesteryear would barely have the stamina to compete with the the elite club on a provincial level, but they were harder and meaner back then and big respect to all those players of yesteryear from every nation for making this game what it is today, :o)
Agreed. Doc Craven was always a fierce opponent of professionalism in rugby and I can see why. There was more passion and honour in the old days when it was about pride in your country or province rather than just about money.
So the Springbok selectors, having appointed Theo Pienaar as captain for the tour, send a messagee to Morkel, that they are what.....going to appoint him vice captain, but he will be captaining the team against NZ?
What nonsense. The quote is your first issue. The selectors would never send a message like that, with a captain already in place. My guess is they asked him to come and play, that the Boks needed him and offered him the vice captain role.
How gullible RooiAAS, don't believe everything you read, particularly when it contradicts the known facts.
