Labuschagne has been suffering from an injury niggle since the Rebels game and was replaced early in both the last two games.  It is apparent that he is unlikely to play this week even though he is on the bench.   The selection of Ryno Benjamin ahead of Howard Mnisi at 12 is sheer lunacy .

Matfield starting to make a believer out of me - in my Testrugby team. Hope I don't regret this, but thought he had a great game against the Blues. Lack of lock options with Thrush , Thompson, Whitelock, Tuipolotu, Steenkamp all out and van der Merwe and Wykes on bye next week

I am battling about lock selection for both Test Rugby and Foxsport.   However - I have serious reservations about Matfield -  reason he looked good against the very average Blues locks - but is he going to measure up against stronger locks?  I think not and would rather look at other options because he is very expensive as well.
Obviously you are in a much better position than I am - so you are probably much nearer the mark insofar as selections are concerned.

In any event my one lock banker will always be Etzebeth and I am impatient to see him back.

Victor is expensive. Wheeler is a cheap option, so is de Jager. There is always your old buddy Jaws / Uncle Fester  !! He would have had a good week last week except for the three penalties detracting from his score .

@oimatey,

how very unlike u to share tactics before a deadline, normally i have to spy on ur teams after the deadline to see what path the oimatey clan took and try and figure out why.

could ur matfiled comment be a ruse to lure some folks on the wrong path??? o_O

it dosnet fit the nature of ur ID so i will take ur matfield recruitment as legit.

in testrugby i was forced to make a substitution with my lock too, and i know who i will be recruting.
personally i dont like spending too much on the locks, as they tend to be the least likely to score decent points in testrugby.

i wanna get rid of de jager who unlike de jager of 2013 has been a big let down for the uchiha clan, but the cheetahs have a bye next week and i dont want to waste transfers.

have to say i spned more time thinking about tactics in testrugby then i do with foxpsort or superbru, but i prefer foxsport.

Hehe - well bud I am competitive but don't mind discussing ideas with others on here as I think we have a good bunch of fellas when it comes down to it and we all learn from each other.

This fantasy season has been tough - for sure. Been guilty of way too much "churn" - making too many changes chasing performance instead of just letting good selections ride and trusting that the good players will have their big weeks.

Case in point - Piuatau. Last week I dropped him in Testrugby but kept in Foxsport as he was moved to wing. He ends up having his best week !

"Been guilty of way too much "churn" - making too many changes chasing performance instead of just letting good selections ride and trusting that the good players will have their big weeks."
Spoken like the hardened and successful fantasy manager that you've proven to be! Charles Piutau is a very good example. He was the highest scoring of all my outside backs this week in the FoxSport comp but like an idiot I had him on my bench!
Before the season kicked off I identified a few players that I was going to stick with through thick and thin and so far I've stuck with them . . . although I'll be worried if Mark Hammett benches TJ Perenara 3 weeks in a row!
That said, I also transfer players in and out (and select my captain) depending on who is playing who that week. For example, I'm expecting the Waratahs to give the Rebels a bit of a drubbing this week so it's not hard to guess what some of my selections will be . . . although I'm a bit torn between Bernard Foley and Kurtley Beale. Do I go with the extra kicking points that Foley will bring or the extra space and running opportunities that Beale gets at centre?

Thats a really good plan - I think I have fallen short of sticking with mine.

Foley/Beale a tough one for sure. I like the extra security of kicking points for Foley in case the game flow just doesn't come Beale's way but if you're needing the points Beale could end up being the one who has a bigger day. Thing with Foxsport giving credit for LBC and TA if Beale does have a big day since he is playing outside Foley you would think Foley would get some credit point-wise for that.

Go with your gut.

yup well said, ive been guilty of chasing instead of sticking with what i consider the tried and true.
but when good players have below average performances, when do u draw the line???
one example is ben smith, im a big fan and hes a great player but he has underperformed so far especially by his usual standard.
but maybe a more balanced mix of what u pointed out and a little bit of a gamble on some others???

cant shake the feeling that if i get rid of ben smith, hes going to score a 10 trys and make 100 tackles, lolz.

What wonderful backline players in evidence here.   The incumbents must hope the no 22 and 23 does nopt get much playing time - otherwise they might be jobless soon.   Steyn in particular is on thin ice - Esterhuizen is a magnific ent youngster.

update

lions and sharks have been updated, thanks rooy, :o)

@lucky luke,
i cant help but feel that ur transfer issues is a bit of play with matches scenario.

- kirwan is known for always chopping and changing his team
- All Black players in the squad were returning this round
- pita ahki is far from an incumbent player

all signs that ahki is a high risk transfer player I MO, but i feel ur pain and hope ur other center scores big to make up for it,

update

reds and force have beebn updated, thanks mikey, :o)

@mikey,
i know ur not frans biggest fan, but theres no chance of esterhuizen threatning him for his position.
IMO shithole and jordaan are the ones who should be worried, cos two big centers in frans and esterhuizen in the midfiled would be lethal.

shithole is just filling in while jordaan is injured, but jordaan has only strated playing ok in 2014, hes been below average the last two seasons.

hope timo sweil lays all right, most promising player ive ever seen from SA.

update

chiefs have been updated and thats all teams named, thanks rooy,

important to note that the waratahs are still to ommit two players, look at first reply for details. and also the reds and waratahs have question mark with who will be on the bench.
shouldnt effect too many folks if anyone at all, but just in case, :o)

r marshall, thompson, latimer, pulu and horrel on the bench, WTF??? o_O
chiefs could very well go through the 2014 season undefeated, its already a given in my books theyre going to win the comp.
better depth than any other team, and better coaches than anyone else.

want to add my best wishes along with rooys with everyone and their fantasy teams, :o)

You Kiwis are a funny lot - whenever you want an SA player in the Springbok team - you must really put the player under a microscope - to see what really is wrong with that player.
Just have a look at foxsport - last week despite two successful kicks at goal he scored zero points for his performance - and that said it all.  He was putrid in the last three games.   He should have gained 20 points for his goal kicking against the Lions.  The rest of his game was so poor that he actually managed 15 points in that game.The game against the Hurricanes he was even worse.  He now played 4 Super 15 games and his foxsport tally is 45.  If that is good enough for an international player - I eat my hat.
Have more than enough reason to say that on average Steyn was sub-par - but for the first game.   He has a mountain to climb to improve.

@mikey,

errrrr, foxposrt stats isnt the be all end all and even with francois having a below average game last weekend.

lots for frans to work on, last weekend according to foxsport, frans had 3 missed tackles, 3 errors, 1 miss drop goal and two long arm penalties, thats -24pts meaning he still earned 24 pts in order to get the zero.
still not very good reading, but it could have been worse and im sure no serious fanatsy rugby manager even has frans on their watchlist.

but food for thought, super ordinary JDV is only on 54pts, thats 7pts more then what frans steyn is on.
would it be fair to say that according to the mikey clan standards, JDV is also not acceptable for the Boks??? o_O
food for thought aye, :oP
