but will he select the right team?

Ex Supersport"

interesting is how intimately they must know each other’s minds.(Allistair and jake)

“What Jake has done at the Brumbies to turn them around is consistent with his coaching philosophies, with a big pack, a physical approach and a strong kicking game being responsible for their successes,” said Coetzee.

“To beat them we’ve got to know the plan, we’ve got to be up for it. The most important thing is that we have to front them physically.”

Asked if perhaps he felt the Sharks had been caught off-guard by the Brumbies last weekend, Coetzee said that the physical elements were something that might have been overlooked against an Australian team.

“I cannot speak on behalf of the Sharks because I don’t know what went on in their camp during the week, but I was surprised at how much momentum they were able to get against the Sharks. They were making several metres at a time when they had the ball and that is not something I associate with a team playing against the Sharks.(But again look how many show pomies)

“The Brumbies played in the right areas, they made no mistakes in their own half, and that is what the game is all about. What was clearly shown in that game was that when they visited Sharks territory they either got away with points or they had a set piece. That led to the Sharks trying to run out of defence and being turned over.

They have a very disciplined kicking game, but if you concentrate too much on that you neglect other areas where they are as dangerous. You just have to look at how physical they’ve been, and maybe that is something that a lot of teams have been overlooking. Jake is a South African coach, he knows that physicality is top of the list here, and in that sense Saturday is a bit like a South African derby.”

Add physicality to skill and you have a very good side.  Allistair you need to select accordingly. We await with interest your response.

I would like to see Coetzee's selections to counter the threats as outlined by him.   I bet you his selections would disregard all the threats andhe would have a backline of five extra-ordinary small players.  His translation from understanding to implrmrnyation is the likely nightmare

Mike that is exactly my concern. How in the world would we cope if he picked say Groom, Janjes, Jean, De Jongh, Aplon, Joe and van der heever. Only jean and van der Heever are of a decent size.

My other concern is one snapster has mentioned I believe - will Howard and Du plessis shove off at some point.

I am very concerned about Howard - he played in the Vodacom cup game last week against the Cavaliers and he did squat - nothing to mention at all.  I hope he is not a youngster that showed promise and then went sour.  Have a high opinion of him and hope he gets going properly.

As to Du Plessis - I think he is still on the injury list I believe.

Howard was wasted on the wing, this is typical WP stupidity.

Coetzee is too stupid to make the right choices against the Brumbies - we will see de Jongh in for de Allende and we will see the useless de Kock Steenkamp retained at 4 and the Brumbies will dominate the Stormers pack, as they did the Shark one

Snapster a Stormers pack of even Kitshoff, Tiaan, Malherbe, Steenkamp, Bekker, Kolisi, Vermuelen and Elstadt should do better than the Sharkies. Vermuelen and Elsatadt add some needed grunt.

I sincerely hope so. However they need some stopping power in the backline as well. Grant is key here s ohope he is fit. Otherise he has to play both Jantjes and Joe (Kicking duties) and my feeling is he will not drop Aplon. That means a very small backline. Can the hold the brumbies for 80 minutes. Brumbies will not be suffering jetlag like last week where they trailed off in the second half.
