What benefit does starting Ross Cronje have and benching Faf. Does anyone here think Ross Cronje is even a good player deserving to play at Super Rugby level?

I honestly think guys like Ross are a dime a dozen in SA club level. He is just a nothing player! He is not particularly great at anything. The difference Faf made when coming on against the Force was so significant, even the commentators harped on about it.

How has this man slid under the radar for so long?

As I have said before, Ross Cronje is probably the worst S15 player I have ever seen......how this guy has won a cap at any level beyond the local pub team is beyond me......Ackerman is not a coaches backside is the bottom line.......selecting Cronje at 9 is marginally worse than selecting Deon v/Rensburg at 13.......it has taken him to this late stage to discover Stokkies Hanekom.......geez does this man have a brain?

Well, the same thing happened with Meyer.

Twice!!

Both Faf and Reinach were ignored completely.

Ackerman not bringing Hanekom in ages ago is a mystery. Dropping the best 9 in the country to the bench for 2 matches in a row is puzzling to say the least.

He's not been rested. Ackerman has deliberately done this. Hard to believe.

Ackerman has the excuse of not being an experienced coach ... but Meyer ... ??? I think not.

It's frustrating ... especially when we're on the verge of collecting another friggin wooden spoon.

It's a wonder I'm not permanently thrashing about on the floor.

 Come on guys...
  1. Ross is the fastest scrummie in the country
  2. He tackles like a trojan
  3. His pass is more accurate and quicker that FDP
  4. He has 180% vision
  5. He kicks out of hand better than FDP as well!
  6. But most of all, he makes sniping runs around the fringes that make Joost look like a lumbering prop

You are all so jealous!
You are the same people that thought Jorrie Kruger and Earl Rose were not good enough!

Chip He is so good id even consider starting him at 10.
The only change id make to the starting xv would be to bring his brother in at 9

Very strange decision and Saffex is right. Ross and his brother a mere local club/pub players. I remember Guy Cronje's first start for the Sharks senior team in the Currie Cup. It was at 10 against WP in Durban. He was clearly shielded. It was very noticeable that his team mates had little confidence in him on attack or defence and I thought to myself then, these "kids" are out of their depth!

Fast forward a couple years and they playing Super Rugby! Makes me feel so sh!t as I can bet most of us on this site that played 1st xv for our schools can produce what these guys can. At the end of the day, rugby is not rocket science. Its throwing a ball around and tackling men running with it. We are all able to play the game...Guys playing CC, Super rugby and international rugby are just simply faster and stronger than us. They have more skill as rugby is their job and they spend a lot more time honing that skill.

Cronje is simply not faster or stronger or more skillful than 90% of those local club players! He is just average as we would be in his situation. Sure, he may be "better" than us now but give us a contract at Super Rugby level, give us the coaching and gym/eating programmes/trainers that he has had and make rugby our fulltime job and I can assure you I can be just as "good" as Ross. There is nothing special about him! He ain't even built like a pro rugby player!

You are spot on........if these poor, poor players can play S15 rugby, anyone can.
How any coach could select such an ordinary player is beyond me........but what makes it ten times worse is that he selects this guy ahead of Faf de Klerk.
In my opinion, that very selection would be enough grounds for sacking Ackerman as the coach..........that's without getting into the selection of Deon v/Rensburg at 13 or on the wing..........geez

Can't have that!

Ha, ha......yeah I reckon Pete would love the opportunity to coach at S15 level, he seems to have made an immediate impression at Vodacom Cup level - time for a promotion to the Lions I reckon.
The Lions should be playing it clever - they should target all those young players that fail to secure game time at the bigger unions like the Bulls etc
Get the cheque book out and lure the likes of Jessie Kriel, Ulrich Beyers, Luther Obi, Dries Swanepoel, Pat Howard, Rohan Janse v/Rensburg, Rossouw de Klerk, Ollie Kebble, Trevor Nkanyane, Kyle Cooper, Etienne Oosthuizen, Ruan Botha, Peet Marais, David Bulbring, Dennis Visser, Fuzz Fuzani, Willem Liebenberg, Wimpie v/d Walt etc

Shit, after what the Lions went through recently, I think they made a valient effort this year. Even if they win the wooden spoon, there is a lot they can take from this season.  Give Ackers a bit of slack man. Please man.

Any coach who selects Cronje over de Klerk deserves no slack at all - he is either completely clueless or just plain stupid......not to mention his selection of Deon v/Rensburg at 13 when Stokkies Hanekom was left to play Vodacom Cup rugby.......rugby ignorance of the highest order
