Amla’s strike rate today is 77.....which is “always good enough” according to Tokkie. But not apparently if it’s a player on his ‘drop’ list like Amla.
By the way Tokkie couldn’t do his sums, de Kock’s strike rate was actually 69.

Amnesia from Tokkie....this is your revitalized team. Gone are Smith, Kallas and Steyn you were always agitating about. Now according to you the answer is more new batsmen.....but in spite of your blather Amla outscored Markham in this series. And your uber hero de Kock flopped again against top opposition. The Indians read him like a book.
It’s certainly true that some of our great players are declining. Morkel for example has dropped about 7 ks per hour.
But the assumption that we need to hurry the process of replacing these aging greats assumes there is great talent in the wings.....and truthfully there isn’t.
The answer as always is to replace aging players when new players demonstrate they have the ability to perform. Like the Springboks the Proteas simply don’t have the obvious talent.

So because Smith ruled himself out of ODI's by piss poor performances since 2011 and he was dropped from the side in 2013 by SA Cricket and Kallis realized himself that he was not up to standard anymore he himself retired from that form of cricket I am somehow to blame for their departure from the game or for saying the obvious.
The same drivel about replacement and lack of talent is rather repetitive on the part of Mozart. He would never support any replacement whatsoever irrespective of how poor aging players become. It was in the case of rugby evident and very clear, He always repeats the same drivel about lack of talent after the coach he initially supported (Coetzee) made a total mess of selections in 2016 and 2017 as well as the Meyer shambles in 2014 and 2015.

Nope. I support Markram but not as captain, Klaasen, Rabada and Zondo looks pretty decent. You’ll find my views on this disastrous ODI series in the cricket section now that rugby is about to start.
