Yes it is amazing that ice is still around in the USA,
With all the hot air they generate.
Freaking Yanks.

Yes, thanks for the hot air and also for the endless waves of financial crises & the "pragmatic ethics". And while I am thinking about it, thanks for the forward pass (American football's corruption of rugby), some rugby nations use it more than others though

Oh puleeze, that's as old as the hills. Bet your grandfathers didn't think that in WW2 nook and JW. Just too glad to be rescued from the Japanese Tsunami. Show a little gratitude.

Moz there is gratitude tempered by realism. The war debt had to be paid back to the US and the US world domination began as a result of the war. Young men and women gave their lives to end that war and a lot of them were from the US & for that we are grateful. But not for the forward pass, there I simply must draw the line

We all know every country has its issues. But the States is not stopping NZ or any other nation from optimizing it's economic situation and building it's culture. Nor has the States waged a war of occupation in modern times....unlike Russia, China, Germany, Italy, Germany or good old GB. .....even though it had the means to take more or less what it wanted. By and large it follows economic freedom and is the first to show at any of the worlds calamities.
It doesn't phase me, and Americans can be rather obvious outside their own culture, but I have to say I see most of this US baiting as jealousy.

Nah, the US aren't occupying sovereign states. they are far to timid and slimy for that. Instead they arm foreign militia groups, subvert and destabilise contrary democratically elected governments and then install their own puppet regimes which act as proxy governments for the US by implementing favourable policies. East Timor, Indonesia (Suharto) Chile (de Allende) Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Nicaragua,, Cuba, etc etc etc....

The internet/World Wide web was invented by a British person.
Tim Berners-Lee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Berners-Lee?
A computer was also invented by a British personhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer
First general-purpose computing device
Charles Babbage, an English mechanical engineer and polymath, originated the concept of a programmable computer. Considered the "father of the computer",[4] he conceptualized and invented the first mechanical computer in the early 19th century.

Sure and the Sumerians invented the abacus, arguably the first computer. But without Microsoft, Apple and Intel you guys would still be getting your rugby from the Sunday Times. But nice use of your Google search function SBW...hahaha. Uh oh my Apple remembers my posting patterns and upgraded you to SBW....damn interfering Yanks.
05 May 2014, 05:31#17
OK I get it, because the Yanks supposedly single handedly won WW2 and are apparently 100% responsible for modern computing the rest of the world has no right to question their head/sand burying attitudes to c limate change, seems logical.

Actually no, the Russians broke the back of the German armies, and the critical battle was the mammoth tank battle at Kursk. They were, however, well supplied by the West via the deadly convoy system.
In the Pacific, however, there was only one force strong enough to stop Japan. And in case you think the Japanese would not have been so bad, you might read a bit about the Phillipines occupation.
As for global warming , I'll leave aside the merits of the case. But the Kyoto treaty that all you tree huggers want only shifts the temperature which would have occurred in 2100 to 2104.... according to the data submitted by the climate "scientists". The cost of that is huge, and the main recalcitrant party is not the US but China.
But if you didn't like the Great Depression do what you chaps want and that will look like a minor inconvenience. We have a vast growing global population totally dependent on oil to grow, harvest, process and distribute the food and medicine the world needs.
All this back to the commune stuff is a pipe dream.
05 May 2014, 09:03#19
By 'scientists' I'm going to assume you mean the vast majority of the global scientific community, the fact that Republicans try to peddle the idea that these scientists have some kind of 'agenda' is laughable as they peddle out scientist after scientist employed by oil firms attempting to debunk what is so close to scientific fact that you can pretty much group the remaining denialists in with those people who still believe that Noah built a big boat with 2 of every species of animal on the planet.
I love how black and white people like you can be Mozart, believe in climate change and you're a tree hugging hippy, if you don't you're somehow enlightened, it's oil and fossil fuels or global depression, pestilence and plague - I guess that's a good enough reason to NEVER EVER look at any kind of alternative fuel source, the same typical fear mongering that Fox news peddles and clearly the weak minded consume.
America have been leaders in so much but are so far behind the curve on climate change it beggars belief, America the brave indeed.

Moz I agree with you. These oaks here would today be sitting under the boot of the Nazis or communists but for the States. Its the USA who has maintained freedom in the world. Some of these dears still wail about saddam and his bent sons being toppled.
as for global warming only ou rooitwit and co believe in that nonsense these days.
I think a lot of the problem some twits have re the States is sheer jealousy of what they have achieved. Americans are successful and do well in life for the most part. That makes some green with jea lousy.I would have expected better from JW an even AJ.

I think too much emphasise is placed on global warming. Pollution and the general raping of the planet is a serious problem, but the problem is much more serious than just global warming. It has become a buz word for getting research grants and extra taxes. The model is too complicated for a simple solution and it distracts the attention from equally importand issues. Meanwhile the world is going to shit.

Its dishonest science. No evidence of global warming due to Co2 emissions by man.The degradation of the environment etc is an issue as is sustainability. But lets have the truth.
