The most important match of the year is going to be refered by Nigel Owens?
Well, that's what happens when there are no reliable refs in Australia, the only neutral SH union for this match, except Walsh (who isn't neutral himself in this case). However I would have preferred a saffa ref like Joubert.

Owens' gusto for whistling penalties can ruin the match. Even if it seems that a ref of this kind could be prejudicial to the team that needs 4 tries (and that would be the case if the AB would have needed), it's going to favor SA's style in a big way.
Boks can choose if they go to kick to goal (to win the match) or to the line out to make rolling mauls to get tries (the only way they can obtein them against the AB) to win the tournament

Brother CleanCut, this referee is a carrier of your pet hate. The ex school teacher will again bring his "cane" to the class. We must just hope he does not kill the game.

Nigel Owens probably call so many penalties because he can't keep up with the pace of the game, lol

What a load of hogwash!

I don't think there's a better referee in the world right now than Nigel Owens.

People can squeal about him being pedantic and whistle-happy (and I see a few of the loudest squeals coming from posters who have proven they don't have the foggiest idea of some of the laws of the game) but Owens applies the laws to the letter - which is all anyone can ask for - and he is consistent. The right ref for such a big game.

 Don't worry my Bokke broers.

I have the solution if we lose to the cursed All Black although i expect the crazy Dutch bastards i am about to unleash to do the business.

Being the daddy of all evil genius i have created a time machine or ATM .

Here is my secret plan....

Now how did Dr Evil get "Status: Ref". With two posts the status is Orange Peeler - at least that is what I recall.
Beeno, is Dr Evil a mole?, lol

No need to moan about the referee in advance. So what should team management do?

Study the referee and determine what his interpretation is like - what he likes and what he dislikes on the field of play.   Warn players to avoid his dislikes like a plague.

One thing is certain - professional fouls in the red zone will lead to yellow card and worse.

Owens is pedantic - he will not risk anything - he will consult the monitor referee for reviews to determine critical decisions.

I hope Nigel Owens yellow cards players for blatant infringements in the red zone. Blows penalties for offsides in the ruck and yellow cards players from continuing to enter the ruck from the side.

If the above is the case, Boks by 7. I am really looking forward to an absolute cracker and hope it is not spoilt, once again, by a poor Ref. AB's have the advantage with the ref though. He would not want to send one of them off as he would then be labeled as retaliatory so now they have a license to cheat as much as they like and usually do. Expect every trick in the book including colapsing the scrum at every opportunity. Fat Franks will be at his obstructing best and will not handle the ball once in the game.

i reckon owens is a half decent ref, still think that joubert is the best though and peyper is very reliable too.

as useless as waynes barnes has been in the past, if u were to look at his perforamnces as of late, its been of a very high quality too.

@ceradyne,
saffa posts must have hit ur blindspot, cos the referee excuse has been in the Bok fans corner all week, granted not all.

wonder what the odds are of another facebook pages being started by a saffa about the ref happening this week are,

odds are it will be pretty good, after the All Blacks beat the Boks again,

I will also doing my best to do some ninja telepathy through out the game too, does that make me worser then the ref too  I am not disputing the ref has had some influence on the game's over the past few years, and 2 or so week's ago, but it's the consistency of soley blaming the ref for loosing to the Ab's. The fact you overlooked the other factors, The Abs's were more proficient in their execution when it came to scoring point's then the boks. Should be a good game, someone need's to tell bismark were not playing touch rugby
