One was on the bench recently at Curry Cup level, and the other is now being moved to flank.
I also rated Esterhuizen after watching him play against Sarries, but at the time did say I would need to see more of him to make a comprehensive assessment.
He is strong with the ball in hand especially for a 19 year old, but it seems he does not have the brains or skill to be a top quality centre.

Mike and Dave berated me when I pointed out his missed tackle that effectively lost the Junior RWC. He remained a great centre prospect according to these worthies. To them I say.......bwaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha.

Typical fucking ignorant comments from the clowns. First of all esterhuizen has all the skills to be a great centre evidenced by the tries he scored in the JWC and his game against sarries.
He did not lose the game for SA against England, what ignorant bullshit and he was subbed because of injury you idiot. He took a massive knock when he smashed his opposite number to the ground. Take it the twit that watched the game live missed this obvious incident.
Best of all is ignorant twats writing a player off after one game and ONE missed tackle - how fucking stupid.
Now onto Esterhuizen at flank, just a little research would reveal that the sharks u 21 side has been hit with a ridiculous number of loosie injuries and with plenty of depth in the centre position it was decided to play esterhuizen there given his size and strength....so no you ignorant twit he is not changing position it's temporary cover

These sound like the excuses we got when JJ was playing CC before the Bok team was announced. Urgent message to Dave.....JJ isn't going to be a Bok centre anymore, nor is Burden, nor is Taute, nor is Esterhuizen.

Oooooh wow more bullshit, I said fuck all about jj playing in the cc it's just you ignorant twits that said he had been dropped to the bench in a warm up game when in fact he was carrying an injury and proceeded to follow that game starting at 13 for the Bulls a week later confirming your clowns lack of knowledge, much like the bullshit I read here regarding esterhuizen.
But you clowns can keep making things up, I deal in reality and that is all that concerns me.
The only reason jj or esterhuizen will not play centre for the boks is because we have an ignorant conservative coach cut from the same cloth as you fools.
One would swear Meyer was the measure - Meyers ignorance is going to be exposed in a big way when we lose to oz and nz. Hopefully thereafter he will be sacked and a progressive in touch man is appointed. The kind of guy who sees value in players like jj and esterhuizen and is not fucking stupid enough to think that players like fourie, Jean, morne, pienaar, jannie, steenkamp, bakkies, matfield, louw, schalk, smith and alberts are the answers

Don't lie I said he was on the bench in the cc warm up game as he was carrying an injury I said nothing more. You clowns ignorantly drew the conclusion he was dropped.
As for jj losing the RC that is yet another lie. JJ s performance against nz with ball in hand was sublime - which summed up how fucking useless Meyer is by dropping him thereafter for useless fourie, the same player Meyer is still lamenting about given his non availability.
Are you stupid enough to conclude that because Meyer does not select these guys that they are somehow not worthy? Geez just look at how pathetic Jean was against the argies - if only serf one in had been playing.
As for 13, we had JJ ripping the Kiwi defence apart in his last test, just ask savea, smith and Cruden on 3 separate passages of play....and since then we have had fourie with 13m gained in 3 tests with not a single defender beaten, followed by the complete flop of jp at 13 and now De allende making a less than emphatic debut
Yeah I can see why you think Meyer has got it right...what rugby do you clowns actually watch?

Doubt very much that Eesterhuizen will be made into a flank. But its not impossible. We live in a land blessed with an abundance of loose forwards but think its very smart to make big backs into loose fowards or hookers.
Talk about dumb!

Bonzo the Ape-moron
Let me takeyou back to the 2012 tests and then look at Super 15 since then and see what Fransie produced. Nothing at all at Dunedin and Brisbane. In 2013 he was so poor at center that PLumtree said he is not a center at all and he would not use him as one in future.
In 2013 he was the worst performing center in Super 15 (any team) - he made the fewest line breaks - beat the least tackles and had the highest missed tackle ratio of any center in the competition - the only center that never scored a try.
Fransie is the backline play saboteur in SA Rugby. He destrpoys backline play and one can s ee how much better the backline of the Sharks perform in the CC without him in the team.
Fat Fransie is too slow and too poor a decision-maker in the backline - he should perhaps move to loosie himself. If you want to destroy a backline play F ransie at center or at flyhalf. Only morons would do that,.

The Sharks got to the semi-final not because of Fat Fransie - but despite having him in the team to neutralize their backline. He is not a center anymore - neither is he a flyhalf. He was a pooor defender in the WC final in 2007 - missing four of the attempted tackles. He went to France and came back as the poorest center in Super 15 over the last two years.
In 2007 he was pathetic - so poor that relieving kicks made by him in the Springbok 22 rolled along the grass and was quickly turned to points by the opposition - too fat to see his feet.
He is not hailed by everyone in the game - because he has lost most of his support bcause of putrid performances during the last two years. I am all you say - but for the "luar" part - don't knopw what that is - but I am not a mororn who refuses to see what Fat Fransie actually porduces.
We are indeed lucky - he threw his toys out of the cot and defected from the Springbok team - it was good riddance of a rubbish player.

Talking of pace and then mentioning Fransie is an anomaly. Both Esterhuizen and Serfontein will beat Fransie by 10 meters ibn a 50 meter race.
Fransie would have been massive against the Argentinians? The only thiing massive is his gut - definitely not his rugby. Add to that his speed deficienciecy and his total ability to destroy backline play and the nearly 100% inaccuracy of his kicking out of hand game - and we have the biggest mess imaginable in rugby when Fransie plays at 10 or 12. Plumtree was very near the mark - Fransie is not a center - but he is definitely not a flyhalf either.
Face facts - with Fransie gone the Sharks backline is at last functioning properly in the CC - something it never did in Super 15. The only change was the eliminating of Fransi from that backline.
Morne is indecisive and useless at flyhalf - Frannsie is even worse.

Fact is that the Sharks backline was totally disfunctional in Super 15 and they won most games with penalties and a dearth of tries by backline players. In the end a disfunctional backline is just not good enough and the Crusaders proved that in the semi-final after the Sharks lost badly to the Highalanders in the round-robin games and barely amanged to beat them in the play-offs.
It is not the game won by the Sharks that really counts in this case - it is the disfunctional backline that cost them in all the amtches they lost and the main cause of that disfunction was the backline play of the Sharks.
To play Fransie at 10 or 12 is a dead loss and all backline play ended wiith him in whatever position he played in. The only time the Sharks backline functioned was when he was cut out of play. As a one-incident yokel you will argue about the first try scored by the Sharks against the Crusaders in the round-robin game - but that was unique and happened never before or afterwards in any Sharks game played.
The disaster in the backline was when Fransie played at 10 or 12. Why do you never want to admit that his stats for the Sharks in Super 15 was dismal this year and his poor play as a backline player - whether at 10 or 12 - was a serious defect in the team set up?
Fact is that for the first time this year the Sharks backline is functioning properly in the CC - not the dismal failure it was in Super 15 with Fransie in the backline.

Just to add - I have a feeling that Steyn's departure from the Springbok squad had more to do with his inability to perform properly in backline play than anything else and that his inability to fit into proper backline play was a root cause for his outburst.
Due to performance deficiency it was very likely that Steyn would not have made the starting line up in the Springbok side in the Jne tests and the fact that he stormed out of the squad on the day before the team announcment was to be made is likely the result of the fact that he would not have made the side and the ego trip he always is on, would not accept that one.
Meyer would - unlike White - not put up with Fransie's lack of performance and other shenanigans - and that is a fact. He was the poorest center in Super 15 and he was the poorest flyhalf as well - but ac cording to you goal kicking is all that counts in a flyhalf and that is why we fail when the chips are down and all-round flyhalf play is a requirement.

Ha ha what a nice "Welcome back" from Dave...Good to see some things never change. Why is it that he takes my post on "my" thoughts on Esterhuizen so personally?? Am I not allowed my own thoughts? Perhaps its pressure on Dave that yet another of his calls goes up in smoke.
Beeno, you are right..We do have an abundance of loosies. This may just be the beginning of the end (before its started) of Esterhuizen in "top flight" teams..He might just end up being forced overseas or accepting a gig by one of the lesser teams like Border or Griffons. That may be his only chance at playing in the centres and possibly even on the flank..He might find that his build will see him have to take the Craig Burden route and end up front row as seeing him life, you could easily mistake him for a front row guy like Thomas du Toit.. He is a massive unit..Massive legs and really wide..Dave wouldn't know as he has never seen him live..
Dave, please dont be upset if we take what you have to say about him with a pinch of salt..Afterall, you are the king at making bullshit calls..Esterhuizen was playing shit against the Poms before he hobbled off and further more, we looked a lot slicker through the backs and won a lot more comfortably against NZL when the Kriel twins made up our centres. Damian McKenzie (NZ fullback) was punching holes straight throu our 12 channel all night with Esterhuizen there in the 2nd game.. We got through by the skin on our teeth..
I agree with Mozart..Frans Steyn is the best player we have to execute the "Bok rugby" gameplan. He has the biggest boot, strongest defence and strongest runner. If we were an exciting team like NZL or Aus, perhaps Frans at 10 would not be the best bet but we are not them and if we want to persist with the gameplan we employ, Frans is our best exponent of it in the 10 jersey!
We all like how good Pollard looked for the baby boks but lets be real guys..So did Lambie..So did Serfontein...The list is endless but Bok rugby does not cater for the "excitement" factor and thats just the way it is..
Ha ha and doofy dave is going to rate JDV and De Allende on their performance this past weekend when they played in conditions worse than any other game we have watched..Ha ha I bet if it had been Serfontein and JJ at 12 and 13 respectively, dom davey would be mentioning the weather a lot more!
Let me tell you something, had it been Serfontein and JJ on the park, we would have lost that game! In those conditions, had you offered the Boks a 6-5 win before the match, you would have to take it! There is no leveller like torrential rain!
I remember playing a game against Pinetown Boys at the Lahee Park in the Mcarthy Toyota night series which was a pre-season tournament made up of 6 teams over 4 weeks, 2 games a week..7pm kick off in torrential rain..We won 11 -6 on the night..Error ridden game and no team could get anything going..Mid-season we met again in a full round of fixtures against the school where our seconds won 69-5 and our firsts 63-0 on a sunny Saturday..Same teams, same year only 2 months on...I am sure Dave has never played this game!

Bog I see your move to oz has not helped the intellect. You really are one sad fuck to give up on a player after one game and a game in which the lad took a knock to the head and was subbed.
So no its not personal for I don't give a flying toss about you, but what I do take exception to is someone so fucking fickle and stupid enough to draw a conclusion on a player based on one game played in the rain and injured, ignoring all his outstanding contributions in his previous games.
It's that kind of blind stupidity that irritates me. The fact that you are the author is par for the course.
Just don't flatter yourself and think it's personal. If you were hit by a bus do you think I'd notice your absence or miss you huh?
20 Aug 2014, 14:24#29
Ha ha Dave, what contributions in his other games? We played NZ twice which he was involved once and we played Scotland and Samoa the Eng in the final.Scotland were a walk over..Samoa stuck with us only because of the weather..What other games tosser?
I am not "giving up" on Esterhuizen...Seems the Sharks are..I couldnt care less what Esterhuizen does but my initial thoughts on him are that he does not set the world alight nor does he have any great skills bar strength..He is certainly no match for a 19 year old Frans Steyn!

He scored and set up some good tries helloooo. Not to mention how huge he was in defence. And how about his try against sarnies, guess there was no skill in that either???
And you are stupid enough to conclude that the sharks have given up on him because they have asked him to cover at flank given their loosie crisis - wow can you really be that dumb?
You fucking fickle wanker
20 Aug 2014, 15:05#31
Set up tries?? Against Scotland? Dave, a high school first team could beat Scotland!I never watched his game against sarries..I just remember you jizzing in ur pats about that but he was probably bog ordinary but as he is one of your favourites, he gets a standard 9 point rating!
Ha ha i guess you didnt watch when Esterhuizen dropped the ball cold against the Cheetahs in space..
