Gloucester's Andy Hazell unleashed against Mont De Marsan in their Amlin Challenge Cup match last night after he was allegedly eye-gouged and had a 'severely sore and very red' eye. Here is a quick look at it, with a video to follow soon.

Disgusting stuff really - doing little for the image of the game.

As a person who has had a detached retina and had to be fitted with a ceramic buckle to save binocular vision.....I find this eye gouging thing in rugby incomprehensible.

Of someone gouged my eye they may get a similar response. It is primal to protect your face and easy to lose control.

I played hockey, and Still play rugby. Let me tell you, there's a lot more cheap crap that goes on in rugby then in hockey. In hockey, if you're going to eye gouge someone, you better be able, and ready to fight.

I don't think the IRB is going to start allowing fighting, so some seriously big fines need to come down on these incidents.
