Not necessary - there are some decent Steyn rugby players and some really questionable ones,  Morne is a definite in the questionable ones and Fat Fransie is another candidate in that category,

Apparently Francy made SARU pay to resettle him from France back to the Free State - Even though the Steyn family have a farm in the Free State).

They are keen to bring him back to play for the Cheetas. He still has another 2-3 good years in him, albeit he is past his best.

There have only ever been two Steyns who have represented South Africa. One wonders who these other "decent Steyn rugby players" are.

They definitely was not in the Springbok team - which neither Morne and Fat Fransie deserve to play for on merit.

Mike, the Steyn family has a good sporting gene, I remember a Chris Steyn at school, sure never became famous but he excelled at sport and yes there's Dale Steyn at cricket,,,we have an old farmer friend in Rhodes/Barkly East area, Piet Steyn, whose Frans Steyn uncle, he's a lovely old man, tough as nails that helped us out when we had 2 simultaneous punctures on the road between Barkly East and Rhodes. On his farm is the biggest natural cave in South Africa where he stores his hay. He's a lovely old chap, must be in his seventies or eighties now and is as strong as an ox. He went to a great deal of trouble to help us out. You don't get people like him in cities.

Steyns equal good Afrikaaner breeding.
