Back from the Dawn Parade ,off to the RSL to see old mates so to all who served and continue to do so "Kia Kaha E " [ Maori Battalion marching song meaning more power to you my friend ] 

To the 13 All Blacks and their Captain who lie in Frances soil and to all the others who still lie far from home including South Africas brave men such as "sailor Malan " and his brothers in arms who fought the forces of fascism and tyranny far from home ,RIP and Kia Kaha to them all .

Off to get blootered now, enjoy the rugger folks !

Soon none will march there at all. A friend of mine was at Pearl Harbour when the Japanese attacked, survived and flew carrier missions in the war. Later he put those skills to good use strafing our golf club with his aircraft. What a life, he started his own company and worked well into his seventies....at 92 he still visits his relatives in France every year and knows a good glass of wine. And it could all have ended over 72 years ago as it did for so many....the vagaries of war.
Respect to all those who served.

Indeed,  lest we forget our fallen ANZAC.  And the kiwis who served in Bamyan, Afghanistan, dating back  2003-2013. And our current special force teams deployed who still maintain our traditional high standards.

...lots more marching Moz....Anzac Day is deeply embedded in our national psyche...it's a day we celebrate our freedoms and honour the memories of those that served in all wars...from Gallipoli to Afghanistan...


...the last Anzac veteran from WW1 died 12 years ago in Australia but a new generation is taking up the baton and carrying on the Anzac tradition remembering the fallen and those that served...


...new generations are wearing the medals of their parents , grandparents ,great grand parents commemorating their forebears at Anzac services all around NZ...where the famous words of Laurence Binyon are recited ...


...They shall not grow old , as we that are left grow old

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them...

 Very moving posts I must say. It is only right that we at least remember those who fought and those who died in our wars. I have seen some very moving war memorials in Europe over the years & ANZAC forces in most of them. 
Poland of course has a sad but heroic history of conflict and war. Respect to all and their families!

Pamoa  Leatherneck is the American side and yes I have been at Bastion.But the times I have been there were not for long periods of time.Any soldier is only ever there for a few weeks at arrival or departure, or for medical reasons.The first week is a briefing on life in the field and field medical training.Form there on its on to FOB's...

 So the one time ...I decide to say some thing nice and respectful I get slack from all the Kiwis.Well what was I expecting? But not on this thread,war knows no color or race.Here we are all equal.Men and women standing for what is right.I respect all forces serving and retired personnel alike.My personal views do not count here neither do my animosities towards All-Black rugby. I know I am not liked.That honestly does not matter to me.But I will not take offense on this thread.Purely out of respect for the day and what it means and for what it is.Peace to all of you.In my honest opinion,it should be the ultimate goal of every human being to strive for peace in any form or way.That coming form a fighting man.

 Oh he should know the British Brigadier who's working with the marines. The Brigadier general who is also working with the other coalition forces He's the deputy commander of RC-SW. He also worked with coalition forces in pre-deployment training. in the slow process of shutting down the camp leatherneck/ Bastion. Maybe he' s been out of the loop to long.

 Papamoa my tours were in 2006 and 2009.Since then I have been doing other things for the Army.Mostly training orientated.So I cant comment on current affairs in Afghan.

 just curious Cloudy I lived in the states from 04-2010. In Cali when I was busy and when I had time off I was in Arizona, Chandler AZ thought me and AF had something in common. Not eating out of his hand just yet. was AF part of operation panther's claw a combined operation in Helmand provence

Let us remember those guys...when men were men and women were women.

 

War is ugly...people are twisted but the real heros have stood up...not a game by any means but these guys made it possible to at least have the possibility of some liberty...while we sit around and watch sport and glory in the win or the near loss and idolise some sportsmen that good hard solid rugby...lets remember those that did the real dirty work...made it possible...lest I forget. Every year I play this number...brings tears to my eyes...

 yea pretty dumb in those days. Moved there with my american wife couldn't find much work so i joint the marines at a base in San Diego. I never got to any of those areas I really want to go to wyoming and Dakota out to Montana. awesome looking country.

My wife Kate is from Arizona.We met here in the UK in 2005.In 2006 I was deployed in Now Zad.We had some serious conflict/contact situations and yes I was involved with Panthers claw in 2009 but again not as an officer,pointman to be exact chase of my previous tour experience and because the newer guys/acrow's were green to be frank.

Cloudy,I am sorry for saying horrid things to you.I don't like Nzl.In my opinion,the comados from Australia were miles ahead of any Nzl counter part.Dont know why...I think you are good at rugby but not much either.Funny enough,Lepeti Funamina is a serving gaurds men in the welsh gards...goood strong kad.Plays good rugby for the Welshman gards.So not all of you are bad. That is by far the best you will get from.That...or I start biting again with every thing I have.Now please leave me alone.
