I almost put a question mark after the thread title but its so obvious the oaks have no clue when it comes to understanding the Bok match versus the argies.
Gonzo (Card) was however right in saying the Argies on this form would have beaten the Aussies. They would also have beaten the abs but for a lack of fitness. Would probably be ahead till say 60 minutes. So give credit to the argies who unfortunately have some a few injuries and dont have great depth - making it easier for the wee abs etc
But what the oaks are missinhg here, as a direct consequence of their very limited rugby acumen, is that the Boks blew the Argies away in about 20 minutes of playing some decent rugby. JW and the kbbs please note.
About the scrums there has to be some trickery going on. I noted last week that immense rugby brain Dr Brendon Venter stating the Argies were scrumming illegally at Loftus. Doubtless there was some skullduggery going on once more. The kbbs and wobblies fans must note the Bok scrum has consistently been better than theirs so there is no room for crowing. One hopes all comes to the light like kiwi red zone infringements . Bwahhahahahahahaha
I suggested that this match was going to be a stern test and so it proved (Beeno ever the realist!) Illiegal scrumming or not what was a clear as daylight (Although a certain Dr got it hoplessly wrong) was that Beast, Strauss and Malherbe were far better (Than the starting formation). Beast not giving an inch and Malherbe incorrectly penalised in one scrum but not going backwards in one of the repeated scrums prior to the incorrect penalty.
Bissie and Jannie though played in all the Sharks Super 15 games and are shot.
Strauss was far better than Bissie. Juan was mediocre and Coetzee a vast improvement.
Etzebeth was great and to think this is only his second match back outstanding. Loodt was acceptable and far better than wee matfield could ever be in a tough match. Could Willemse have been better is the question?
An opportunity to play an atatcking scrummie like Reinach was lost. Pollard was very sound and just needs time to assert himself more. Allende was okay but please oak dont go making decent runs and then lose the ball. A player for the future. Jean is not yet back to his best yet but that was to be expected.
Wings were okay and Willie good.
Selecting the side to play OIz should be easier for Meyer. We have now a tighthead problem if Malherbe is out. Any news?
While the wee abs had a flattering win against Oz - given the non appearance of oz - the Boks had a true test and their character shined through. It took 20
minutes o Bok rugby to blow the Argies away.
We desparately need a backline coach - the argies showed a lot more skill. Ours performance was so raw.
Well done Bokke we are proud that you made a way to win as close as it was.
It's onwards and upwards from here injuries and refs permitting.
Walsh was fine and no complaints. Shows you a kiwi can ref if he has a mind to. A few errors and missed a few things but no apparent bias.
