As good as the Boks were
The Pumas were awful.
We're getting all excited about our victory over this 3rd rate side ... why exactly is that???
I am still of the opinion that Meyer is an ass. This victory hasn't changed my opinion.
If we can thump the Pumas by 60 pts with this poorly selected team then I would hate to see what's gonna happen to them when they play against the All Blacks.
"My Bok 23 would be:
15. Willie 14. Mvovo 13. JJ 12. Serfontein 11. Habana 10. Lambie 9. v/Zyl 1. Beast 2. Bismark 3. Coenie 4. de Jager 5. Etzebeth 6. Brussouw 7. Vermeulen 8. CJ Stander
16. Strauss 17. Kitshoff 18. Marcel v/d Merwe 19. Jacques du Plessis 20. Kolisi 21. Reinach 22. Jean 23. de Allende"
Jirre!!! Maar dis 'n kak span. Enige iemand wat so iets kies weet FOKOL van rugby!@saffex,
i read somewhere that brussow is in japan??? if so, he wont be available for the Boks even if meyer wanted, unless they work out a du preez style deal.
my Bok team would be
1 beast, 2 a strauss, 3 c oosthuizem 4 l de jager, 5 e ezebeth, 6 d fourie, 7 cj strander, 8 d vermeulen, 9 p van zyl, 10 m steyn, 11 b habana, 12 JDV, 13 j serfontein, 14 jj engelbrechet, 15 p lambie
16 bizzy, 17 s kitshoff, 18 j du plesiss, 19 flip van der mewe, 20 l labuschange, 21 c reinach, 22 w le roux, 23 d de allende
i think if u can have JDV, serfontein and jj on the feild at the same time, why not??? cos its better the the wing options out there, basson, mvovo etc.
also think fourie shold be in the team, hes a nuggety player who can get round the park and is effective in defence, attack and the breakdown.
@mikey,
aussie have double the number of adult rugby union players that NZ does, 40,000+ to 20,000+.
aussies are a fickle bunch of supporters, they love it when their teams are winning, btu all of a sudden dont care when theyre not.
hate to say it, but the wallabies winng the bledisloe cup will be one of the best things to happen to australia, as the fans realise they will always be second best to the All Blacks, they might get a good patch of wins here and there, but all in all its an All Black rugby world.
Moz, who should McKenzie have picked that he did not pick?
Sas, one thing that must never happen is JJ moving to the wing, that would do his centre development untold harm. If you want Jean, Serfontein and JJ in the side, start Serfontein on the wing.
My centres will always be Serfontein and JJ, Jean has been solid, but these two youngsters are better and the future. Why on earth would you want to drop one of our most creative backs in Willie to the bench, that is just madness. Sorry but bog ordinary Morne has to go with Lambie at 10 and Willie retained at 15
Stupid ... amazing how this name suits you so well.
I agree with Apollo.
Your team is pathetic. Surely even you coulda selected a better 23 than that? You have two guys playing out of position in Vermeulen and Coenie to start with. What's that about?
Tell me ... do you EVER think before you post your hogwash on this board??
Pull your head out your arse ... dumbass!!!!
Oh and how come HouGat's dissapeared from your mix. He will be well suited this team of yours..
Regards to the prop ...
the victory was great but as good as the boks were so woefull was the pumas on the day.
the boks did what the boks meant to do and put on the points but we need to take the victory as it comes and this weekend is another ball game. the pumas first phase set pieces was in chaos. scrums went bad line outs was a joke and there tactics on the deck was nothing short of a comedy. the boks did the right things but countering it but the pumas was not on song at all.
fourie de preez's service was the quickest i have seen from any no 9 in years and he level was as good as what i have seen from him ever. of which i am very happy for him as i for one has some question marks over his abiltys coming back into the bok fold via japan.
@saffex,
i dont agree, jj has the temperment at both wing and center, similar to the way that kahui did for the All Blacks, in fact, i would go so far to say that that it could even prove beneficial, as he picks up a few insights on certain opposition defnesive an attacking traits.
i also think that every teams outsideback trio needs some balance, and habana, le roux and basson or mavovo are not what u call powerful runners, speed and agility is their major and jj can balance that out nicely with especially as well as use his height as a defensive tool.
i think that JDV/serfontein and jj are all starters and i also think that basson and mvovo are not, infact if their was anyone better, none of those two would even be on my bench.
the 12 JDV, 13 serfontein, 14 jj combo ensures that the best players are on the field at the same time.
JDV is a better inside center then he is an outside, and im a little iffy about serfontein at 12 for the Boks, a lot of traffic goes down that way and against top teams which none of the Boks in 2013 have faced yet, it will prove problamatic.
having serfontein at 13 will also ensure that the impressive synergy they had at the bulls with their midfild combo is still in effect.
jp shoes were to big to fill for the current players available and until the Boks get a half decent wing, i will always think that jj at the moment is better on the wing, but lucky for u i think meyer has him locked as a 13 period.
I am with Dave on this one. The captaincy is no longer such a major issue. Not with the way that Adriaan Strauss is playing. If JDV is not the best option at 12, then put in Serfontein with Engelbrecht. Why play two players out of their regular position to retain one of them for his secondary role. If we were to move Sefontein to 13 and JJ to 14, it would mean that two are out of not only out of position but not playing in their best position either. If you retain Serfontein at 12 with JDV at 13 and JJ at 14, you have the exact same scenario.
Mike em NZ tries mostly come from turn overs. They kick it in your half and feed of your mistakes.
And I hope all you Serfontein fans saw the difference between JdV and Serfontein. The difference is in Habana's hands and Habana's feet
