Assault case against Etzebeth dropped

Just before travelling to the World Cup in Japan in 2019, Etzebeth and his cousin, Emile, were implicated in an alleged assault involving a couple of locals outside a night club in Langebaan.

However, it’s now been confirmed that the case will not be investigated.

“The Acting Western Cape Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Nicolette Bell, has declined to prosecute Emile and Eben Etzebeth on counts of assault, stating there were ‘no prospects of a successful prosecution against the two men’,” IOL reported.

Obviously Eben's statement was made with the help of a lawyer. Who would  have warned Etzebeth that lying could dramatically compound his difficulties. Yet these are the statements made in court papers.

And just as in the case of Geo Cronje .....Peeper/Koos  claims he knows the person he hates is guilty. Some tits never learn.

The "feel" of the Afrikaans translation of his actual statement is much better than how it was reported in the OP article...yet Rooi still had to further slant it by adding words and negative context...illustrating the negative vision of this incident in his own mind...and trying to sell it as probable fact. Why?

Eben gets accused of being a bully. Since he started playing for the Boks in 2012, I can't recall seeing him throw one punch or cheap shot...handbag stuf a plenty but nothing dirty...why the bad rep then? Totally irrational IMO.
