In the build up to the game, numerous Scottish blogs and sites regarded our centres as an advantage for South Africa. One wonders how that could be, our media working it's magic across its borders. Our centres were dominated, again. Kriel had a period where he a couple of lively runs early on, but overall, they looked toothless. Damian is developing a new habit of allowing runners to run passed him, even if they run across the face of him. There was a Scottish attack from a kick where they broke along the blindside, along the touchline, Damian was in place to pressure the receiver of that kick but let him go. This was close to being a try. Of course, these are things which aren't revealed in the stats.
Papier had a better game than I expected. Some weak defence, and one poor box kick, but was generally accurate, with good service. I don't care much for his sniping around the fringes. Good support for the first try. Looked alert.
Snyman had an immense game. Powerful, dynamic and excellent hands linking up for that try. One of the best Boks on the day.
Kitshoff dominating Nel was one of the keys to turning the screw on Scotland. He was good in everything he did.
Pollard was arguably the best Bok on the field. His game management was superb. He is looking more and more dominant with each passing week. Jantjies is clearly outclassed by him. Without Pollard, this would probably have been an even closer game.
Some issues with Nkosi. Some weak defence and weak moments in contact. Kolbe added more bite when he replaced Nkosi, a running theme of the tour.
This is Kolisi's only good game on tour. He was much improved, particularly on defence, where he also pressured the Scots into errors at the breakdown.
