Initially, Australia were much better with the boot, and maintained superiority under the high ball. Despite the size of some of the Boks, our ball carries in the first twenty minutes were stodgy. Australia more explosive in contact, gaining ground after contact. Australia were poor at the breakdown throughout the game.
Gelant was good ball-in-hand, but very poor with the boot. Pretty much what I was expecting. 

Louw was a nuisance at the breakdown throughout the game. If he wasn't winning turnovers, he was slowing their ball down. He made some very important tackles, particularly later in the game. He was easily the best of the loose forwards.
Herschel had great service all game, aside from one floater to Mapimpi which wasted good attacking ball and another poor throw. Okay with the boot. Good awareness and positioning. Some good tackles. Great second try, catching the Aussies cold. 
Lood was clumsy throughout and committed many errors at lineout time. His carries were stodgy and some of his tackles had an initial drive which were thereafter counter shoved backwards. Lacks acceleration. When in space he was caught out a few times. The opening period some some solid defending, however, as the Wallabies probed quick and with force. When the Boks hold their shape, his limitations can be concealed to a degree. 
Steph was the same early on. Some solid defending to blunt the Aussie offence. He was guilty of the first Wallaby try, alongside Elstadt. Both rushed up and were run through cleanly by Kerevi, leaving the big man with acres of unpressured spaced. Credit to his inside break after a quick inside ball from Herschel set him free. An even better pinpoint chip for Herschel to gather. He was exposed for a lack of mobility a few times again. Not a bad test, but some recurring issues resurfaced again. 
Elstadt was almost nowhere the entire game. He was exposed on defence. There was an attacking movement where Steph took the ball carrier, 6-12-15 rushed up with an outside-in shape. Elstadt broke upon the ball carrier leaving the Boks exposed for a potential try. He was again exposed alongside Steph for the first Wallaby try. Early in the second half he made several very strong carries. Was no threat at the breakdown throughout the game. Looks simply like a player ill-suited to the position. Looked immobile with some missed tackles. 
Esterhuizen kept Kerevi in check, overpowering him often. In one tackle, a 12 hit-up off first phase, he held Kerevi up and attacked the ball. This allowed Louw to come in and win a penalty. Was on hand for the first Bok try, releasing Nkosi in space. Also won a turnover defusing AUS pressure. Australia had a nice play off a set piece with Foley attempting to get Kerevi away; Andre read play and shut the move down, smashing Foley to ground, stifling Wallaby momentum. Looked surprised by Jantjies' pass leading to a knock-on. He won a turnover seconds later but let himself down with a poor kick directly into touch. Run a nice line reversing play in Wallaby half, threw a dummy before stepping inside. A potential try was ruined moments before Andre's yellow. He grubbered in-behind the Aussie line and was in place to regather the loose ball. Steph ran in front of Andre impeding him whilst tripping himself up in the process. The following tackle was initially on the shoulder, but the follow through looked bad. Wasn't given enough ball in my opinion. There was potential for him to wear the Aussies down as he clearly had the physical edge over both Wallaby centres. 
Kriel was very lively. Looked to make a lot of tackles and connected frequently in attacking play. Didn't do a lot wrong but didn't seem to make a decisive contribution. A couple of frustrating runs where he could have put someone away out wide but cut in and took contact, but was generally very forceful in contact. Some very good tackles. He was guilty of the Wallabies second try though. Another run through two players, this time Kriel and Orie - Kriel being on the inside. Aside from that, no serious errors. 
Mapimpi and, to a lesser degree, Nkosi struggled to get into the game. Not very much space for either wing. They kept busy though. Nkosi made some better reads this time than the EOYT. He can still be overpowered though. redeemed himself by being run over by Kerevi by stopping him dead in his tracks later. 
Frans didn't do much wrong. His reads were a little slower than Andre's, but his carries were immense. Perhaps he was overly cautious, Jean stated that he was nervous ahead of the game. That turn in the tackle to offload to a looping Elton was the decisive movement for Nkosi's try. Made some good tackles. 
Eben was very strong in the tackle, very dynamic. Made some key stops and had great hands and mobility in getting the second offload of the attack away for Nkosi's try. Physically very dominant. 

Coetzee was no threat at the breakdown, being cleaned off the ball in his first attempt. Two strong carries, one assisted by Steph who drove him forward. The next he deflected off a Wallaby tackle and found some space to burrow into. Aside from this, nothing of note to report. 

Reinach's service was poor. He clearly has no long dart to speak of. I saw little of his boot. We have better in SA.
