Aussies and the Giteau law

Will Skelton and Rory Arnold are not available to the Wallabies because of the “Giteau rule” severely limiting European  based players. I saw Skelton at Soldiers Field….the man is a mountain among big men. With those two locks the Aussies would have a shot….rather than a shot in the foot, which is what they are doing to themselves.

There is one fool on the Board who wouldn’t pick Willie, Faf, Kolbe, Allende, Kitshoff, Snyman, Etzebeth, Mostert, Vermeulen, the Deysel Twins, Wiese and others for the Boks….just because they play up north.

Think of where Bok rugby would be today if our stupid suits had followed the advice of this even more stupid Peeper er poster.

You seem very bitter this morning Draad. There are probably 5 active strings where you can discuss the merits and demerits of the Duds and Lomp. Go there if you wish to do that….this string is about policies that exclude players playing up north and the implications on the national team.

International rugby is not enough of an incentive to stay in a country if someone is not a guaranteed starter. 

It used to work before club rugby became more professional with more money. Nowadays it only appears to be working in New Zealand, which is retaining most of their test players- but not all.
(or perhaps also France and England who have developed their national tournaments, including overseas players). 

Australian starting forwards - particularly the tight 5 are not test-level, let alone the bench.
They need to be able to get their best players on the pitch to be competitive.

Clubs just need to realize that when signing potential test players from other countries, that they will need to be made available for their country during international matches. 

Australia are talking about abandoning the Giteau Law. 

It’s asinine….it hurts both the players as individuals and the national team.
