Azarenka wins OZ open

 Showing huge courage Azarenka fought back from a set down to win the Oz open. The biased Oz crowd showing a bad lack of sportmanship was on Vika's case. Their press had torn in to her because of her medical time out. This dispite her limping very badly earlier  and having a doctor allow the time off.

The oz crowd were clearly sucking up to the chinese as hard as they could. all they can see is big sponsorship bucks!

Li Na played very  well but had to have two medical breaks. The crowd would have loved her too win. Li is the big boss in her home. He husband is truly under her thumb. he practices with her, and does all the fetching and carrying. He admits she is very much the boss at home.  A classic hen peck husband.  I guess that is how Oz oaks like their women?

Li Na embarrases and humiliates her husband when ever he comes up in an interview. But the oz crowd loves her. Strange people these oz oaks. nz oaks are probbly the same  I suppose?

Azarenka is a down to earth bubbly young women who showed plenty of  guts to win in partisan environment. Why the oz dont like her and adore Li Na is a mystery.

Li Na showed lots of skill and courage but to no avail.

 Couldn't agree more about Azarenka. The kid was probably stretching the rules in her semi. But Serena Williams has been guilty of gamesmanship many times, even in her match with young Stevens. Tactical time outs are part of modern tennis

Following the lead of their own gutter press, Azarenka was jeered when she questioned a call against Na and cheered when she double faulted. The Aussies make a huge thing about sportsmanship, but they broke their own rules. I have never seen such hostility towards a tennis player. The Aussie tag of the friendly slam is gone.

Say what you like about the Poms, such poor sportsmanship would never have happened at Wimbledon.

Azarenka is just a young girl, but she showed stupendous guts out there. As did Li Na on her injured ankle.

The crowd didn't deserve this final.

Bean Brain cheating might be acceptable in yr neck of the woods given the fining and suspension of yr cricket captain for cheating and yr country being synonmous with corruption so not suprised you describing Azarenka as courageous given your perverted value system.

 But choking (  and I know you as a Stormer supporter are perfectly familiar with this concept) is only a medical emergency if there's something obstructing your airway, not if you can't close out a tennis match because of nerves.

Azwrenka 's excuse for taking a time out in her own words was because "she did'nt want to lose" and only later amended to "back problems" then breathing problems after realising she was being ex[posed as a dirty little cheat.

 Showing such dishonesty and lack of integrity it is then completely understandable the crowds hostility towards such a blatant cheat.

The woman is a joke and not suprising she dates a dude from the band LMFAO.

 You obviously never watched the Serena Williams game.....where she could hardly walk at one instant, but was running down wide balls the next. They all do it .....Azarenka's problem was she provided too much information.

But Chris Evert, as straight a competitor who ever played the game deplored the crowd's behavior. 

No worries for Azarenko though, she's won the damn thing twice....some joke hey?

Two wrongs don't make a right in my book and when you say she provided too much information you mean she admitted to being a cheat and should of kept her mouth shut instead.

Azarenka, is a role model for young tennis players. So teaching them how to cheat has just corrupted a generation of up and coming players and brought the game into disrepute. Dunno whats worse.

 Therefore she should be stripped of her title, forfeit any prizemoney, then she should be horsewhipped and banned from the game.

I was once watching the Memorial at Muirfield Village.  Payne Stewart hit his ball in the right rough on one of the closing holes. Trees impeded his swing, but his feet were in casual water. He got a drop, but still couldn't swing. So he  turned around left handed and found his feet still in water....so he got another drop. By then he had a clear shot to the green and his playing partner, Tom Kite,  walked away in disgust, saying he couldn't believe the ruling.

That's professional sport. Cricket is no better . It's a reflection of society. Don't get me wrong, it was a regrettable incident in the Stevens match and a blemish on Azarenka's tournament. But I hardly think the hostility to a 23 year old girl was appropriate and consistent with good sportsmanship.

But I gather you whip young girls when they don't conform? Let me guess, you aren't a big success with the fairer set.

I did enjoy Shane Warne's one handed catch in the Federer match though.

We don't whip girls when they don't conform but Azarenka is not a young girl. She's a young women so qualifies in this case. Obviously yr too accustomed to justifying the despicable behaviour of sports people given all the eye gouging, head butting, hair pulling ( thats just the Stormers) and flying elbows we see coming from yr sportsmen.

BTW How much was the match fees that yr cricketers were fined for cheating the other day. Some are saying 10grand each. Would be interested to know.

I am not a great watcher of women tennis - but you could laways be sure to find me watching when Steffi Graff or Gabrielle Sabatini played and I am an absolute watcher whenever "Legs and Tits"  Sharapova plays.   Maybe I am looking more at the legs and tits  issue in thoise cases than is really appropriate.

After all - there could be arguments of whether Graff was the best female tenni player ever - but there can never be an argument about whether she had the best legs of any female tennis player.   Sabatini was an absolute beauty and there can be no argument as to Sharapova's "assets'.  LOL

There are a number o fthings to consider. Firstly take the words of Li Na who didnt appear to find what happened a problem. She said only the palyer knows her state and further that a doctor has to sanction the time out. If you know your tennis it was clear something was not right. A few games earlier she had been limping badly and had grimaced more than once.  There appeared to be genuine concern.

Also there have been a number of time outs etc. Why the over reaction to this one one wonders. A time out can work either way also brycy. 

Now look a tthe final. Azarenka had to dea lwith two time outs. Each time Li Na came back as if nothing had happened.  Its a thing a player has to dea lwith Ni La dealt withth times outs ver ywell and possibly better than Azarenka.

The Oz oaks have been congratualting themselves on how wonderful they ar but to bring them down to some reality I note that the womens final was interrupted for 10 minutes for a fire works display!!!! (Thi sfrom the oka swh owre slamming Azarenka for a 9 minut emedical time out authorised by a doctor!!!) 

This is an international event and the world has little interest in australai day so I suggest they get over themselves. Also I do suggest that they get some air conditioning going. One wants to see who the best players are - not who best survives searing heat - a fatally is bound to happen one day.

One also noticed that guys palying a five setter in the latter part o fthe tournament were sunk. Giles Simon, Federer and Murray. Murray was the more fortunate in having 2 days rest but clearly he was not physically right. Not saying he would have beaten Doks but the playing fields were not level. Somehow there needs to be a rule that if you play a five setter you get two days at least. Try and improve the scheduling

But I do notice my comments about Li Na giving poor old Denis a hard time was not answered. Poor guy is there simply to fetch and carry. Maybe its a Chinese sense of humoir but she does denigrate her husband. Anyhow it clearly appeal to the oaks down under!

On the other side we have the charming bubbly down to earth Azarenka. No mailce or guile there. Well done Vika you are a true champion.

Oz need to apologise to Vika for their uncouth behaviour.  Fair go mate etc!

Congrats of course to Doks who after his usual slow start saw off moooorie with increasing ease. The man seems set to dominate 2013. He gets better as games get longer.

Not much between him and Murray as players tecnically and ability wise. But Doks appears better mentally and as far as fitness is concerned.

My man Federer is not out of it yet with Wimbledon being his best bet  - faster surface. Maybe he has a chance at Roland Garos if Nadal is still not back to form

In post-match interviews the world No.1 twice blamed breathing difficulties that felt like a heart attack for leaving the court during a 6-1 6-4 win over Stephens, but by the time she faced the media over an hour later a mysterious back and rib issue were the source of her pain.

David Nainkin, the coach of Stephens, said Azarenka acted against the spirit of tennis.

"I thought it was very unfair - cheating within the rules," Nainkin told USA Today. (how do you cheat within the rules?)

Azarenka said the issue flared two days ago and had returned a few games before she called for the doctor after failing to serve out the match at 5-3.

"I just regret that I didn't take it earlier.

"It took me too long to call the trainer, which was my mistake. I took it to the point where I couldn't breathe.

"When I play and somebody takes a medical timeout, I don't doubt them." (To the pure all things are pure but not to some oz types and an nz oak!!)

It was the decision of the tournament doctor to take Azarenka off court, but the 10-minute treatment equated to two medical timeouts as her knee was also assessed from a fall in the third game of the second set. (We all saw her hopping on one leg and one wondered if she would continue)

Azarenka did not deny her initial claims of choking and the onset of panic, but insisted there was a genuine physical ailment behind her obvious psychological failure.(She is a patently honest young women - doesnt even think of lying)

"When you cannot breathe you start to panic," she said.

"I was really panicking, not because I couldn't convert my match point. That's not the case, I'm experienced enough to go over those emotions.

"But when you cannot breathe, when something's really blocking you, the stress, that was the stress I was talking about. I just couldn't realise what was going on with me.

"I couldn't breathe, I couldn't swing. I think it was pretty obvious that my shots were a little bit different.

"It was just so stressing me out the pain that I had that you know, maybe it was overreaction, but I just really couldn't breathe."

Azarenka closed out the match on the Stephens serve with her first opportunity, capping a remarkable recovery, but it left a sour taste in many mouths.

To her credit, 19-year-old Stephens refuse to criticise Azarenka and actually wished the world No.1 would win tomorrow's final against Li Na.

Stephens admitted she wouldn't even know how to call a medical time out and when told it was a breathing issue she said: "You just get an oxygen tank or something.

"If it was one of my friends I would say, 'Oh my god that sounds like a PP,' which is a personal problem," Stephens said.

"I love Vica and we share the same agent. We actually are pretty good friends. I'm sure I will see her and we'll talk about it. (hardly the words of someone who feels grieviously hard done by!!!!)

"I hope she wins the final, so I hope if that's the case she should figure it out, something, get it together."

This teenager showed more decency and maturity than ou brycy and his howling hounds.

A for Stevens winning the game or having the better of it - well brycy she did lose the first set 6-1 and Vika was romping home in the second before various injuries caught up with her - starting with the very visible knee injury.

Stevens deserved to win no question and deserves a medal for being so gracious about Azarenkas cheating but she was only being polite. A concept you probably would'nt be familiar with Bean Brain.
