Sonny Bill Williams is going to get special permission to play in a different Blues shirt to his team mates because - as a Muslim - he doesn't believe in banks charging interest.

The main sponsor for the Blues is BNZ (Bank of New Zealand) and there is also an Investec logo on the arm. Both will apparently be removed from Sonny Bill's jersey.

 Setting a precedent?
While it is certainly every individual's right and privilege to belong to what ever religion they choose, it should not interfere with the norm.  SBW is a cool guy, his actions at the RWC when he consoled Kriel speaks highly of the man, but this is pushing it.
What if the next guy has some other form of religious belief and the next guy something else and so on; where will it end.  Because what id good for the goose is also good for the gander and in fairness, if one is allowed to deviate then why not the other?
Next we will have the likes of Naziem Carr also wanting the same because his is the same belief system...
Sport has already become a political tool, now we are set to make it a religious tool as well.  When you are a professional player and you are well aware that sponsors actually pay your bloated salaries, you should consider a reciprocal approach.  No man is an island!

If a Bank does not charge interest- how would it make any money. If they made no money, how would they sponsor the team- to pay everyone's salaries?
I am no fan of Banks- but if they are the official sponsor and paying the bills- they should be respected accordingly. 

If I was the sponsor I would tell the Auckland Blues that either Sonny Bill wears the logos, or the sponsorship is deducted by 1 out of 15, or more.
BMW has already dropped him for his associations- I don't remember the exact details.

EL AVIV — Writing in an encrypted message service, Islamic State militants and supporters have celebrated the news of deadly twin suicide bombings at two Coptic churches in Egypt on Palm Sunday.

Breitbart Jerusalem obtained access to correspondence posted in a closed chat group that utilizes the encrypted Telegram messaging service. The chat group serves as an internal Twitter of sorts for IS jihadists and sympathizers, and it has been used in the past to issue IS communications.

In the chat forum, militants sounded off about the suicide bombings for which the Islamic State claimed responsibility via its Aamaq news agency.  Forty-four people were killed in the attacks, which struck St. Mark’s Cathedral, the main Coptic church in Alexandria, and a church in the Nile Delta city of Tanta.

“Allah bless those who undermined Egypt’s security,” user Abu Ruqaya Alhalabi wrote. “Our beloved brothers in the security forces be tough on the infidels. Let the blood of the Christians who have fought against Allah’s religion flow. Kill them whenever you find them.”

Abu Nasser Almassri Almuhajer (the “Immigrant Egyptian”) discussed the two suicide bombers: “Allah, welcome our beloved brothers [the suicide bombers] Abu Isshaq al Massri and Abu Baraa Almassri as martyrs. They sacrificed themselves to Islam and its people.  They avenged the death of our Muslim sisters in the hands of these Christians who live in our country, from where we emigrated in favor of our religion and the oppressed Muslims.”

We promise to meet you at Al Aqsa Mosque, we will liberate Rome and humiliate the tyrants and the infidels. Referring to the deadly twin suicide bombings, a jihadi in Gaza tied to Islamic State ideology told Breitbart Jerusalem that “these actions cheer up our mujahedeen brothers everywhere.”

He said: “When we see what’s going on in Sweden and we see our friends striking the infidels and Crusaders in Egypt despite all the security precautions, we conclude that in the global war against Islam and the Islamic State, Allah refuses to abandon the mujahedeen and gives them strength to strike his enemies. THE main suspect in the Stockholm truck attack that killed four people and injured 15 has admitted to committing a terrorist crime, his lawyer told a court.

Police believe Rakhmat Akilov, a 39-year-old from the Central Asian republic of Uzbekistan, was the driver of the hijacked beer truck that mowed down pedestrians on a busy street in the Swedish capital on Friday before crashing into a department store.
Johan Eriksson, the lawyer representing him said in a court hearing to decide whether he should be kept in custody: "His position is that he admits to a terrorist crime and accepts therefore that he will be detained."

Akilov, who entered the courtroom with a green sweater over his head before being seated between his lawyer and translator, was arrested just hours after the attack.

He was arrested on the highest level of suspicion in the Swedish legal system. Akilov was already wanted by police for failing to comply with a deportation order.

Security services said he had expressed sympathies with extremist organisations, among them Islamic State, but had not viewed him as a militant threat.

Akilov had asked for his defence lawyer to be replaced by a Sunni Muslim, but a court denied his request, documents showed.

The attack shattered any sense Swedes had of being insulated from the militant violence that has hit other parts of Europe but politicians have taken a defiant stance, saying Sweden will remain an open, tolerant society.

Several police officers in the Swedish city of Gothenburg were attacked with Molotov cocktails by “young men” in the second night of rioting in the “no-go” Hammarkullen area.

Police say the rioting originally started on Saturday evening when they were attacked by several “youths” who threw rocks at them. The officers decided to increase their presence the following day but were attacked once again in the evening by more young men, this time armed with Molotov cocktails, Göteborgs-Posten reports.

At 9:53 pm on Sunday evening, police were called to the area after receiving a call about a car being on fire in a local garage. As soon as the officers arrived, they were attacked by young men who threw a Molotov cocktail at them.

Police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg stressed the danger of the attack saying: “Of course it is highly dangerous as uniforms or anything else could ignite.”

Officers discovered a cache of nine more Molotovs in the area and confiscated them. Three young men aged between 18 and 20 were arrested at the scene after they attempted to flee.

“One of them had plastic gloves on that smelled of gasoline. So we’ll see if we can connect some of those suspected of involvement to those in any way involved in the riots,” Fuxborg said.

After midnight, the area returned to a relative calm. So far, authorities have produced two charges of rioting, one of assaulting a police officer and another of vandalism of the car that was torched.

Hammarkullen is considered one of 55 no-go zones where police are not welcome and are often attacked. In December last year, police had to use a helicopter and special police forces to return order to the area after multiple cars were set on fire.

There are also several no-go areas in the Swedish capital of Stockholm that have seen both attacks on the police and riots in recent months. In the suburb of Rinkeby in February, cars were set ablaze, and shops were looted after the arrest of a local youth for drug offences.

Film taken by a police body camera emerged in March which showed how local youths, many who come from migrant backgrounds, showed no respect for police and told officers they had no authority in the area.
