Despite all Meyer's praise singing in the case of Bakkies Botha - I had my doubts about his performances and as per normal I had a look at his stats for the circa 100 minutes he played in the two tests:-

Looking at the match confirmed by the stats I must say I was not really impressed by what I saw:-
* Botha carried the ball 9 times for a gain of 2 meters in territory in total
* In one carry he did managed to off-load the ball once.
* He lost possession of the ball once - representing a turnover in possession
* He managed to make 8 tackles - but missed 4 - representing a missed tackle ratio of 33,3%
* He took 7 line-out balls in total
To be fair - I also looked at the stats of the 2 locks he played against and found that they both had better stats than Botha had in all aspects of the game - but each of them gave away a penalty. In all other aspects of the game they wee substantially better than Botha.
I wonder why Meyer is raving about this guy? He seems to be delivering far less than what is expected from a lock.
