Sure and you do have a clue?.....But if you can predict these things, how come you got things so wrong two weeks in a row. Dave you only have one idea....youth is better than experience....and experience shows that idea is a loser.

You are at your most experienced when you retire - you cant take there things to an extreme.
Matfiled and Bakkies will struggle in the RC. Bakkies can play possibly a half but wee matfiled is a severe liability.

Well Bakkies according to old Clevers deceptive stats ran 14 times for 5 metres. Of course those numbers would be much better if Clever included his Worlds runs and try. But just taking them as offered.....Lood ran 7 times for 3 metres....where's the difference?

Bullshiit - Experience without performance is a liability - not an asset. The try Bakkies scored in a non-test game is obviously not the alpha and omega - even if you try to make it out differently. For the rest of that game he was not up to standard in any event - like he was in all the quoted test matches.
In half a game played by De Jager - a player you consistently belittled in the past - he did more than Bakkies did in the four matches combined. You tried to make all kinds of false statements insofar as De Jager's performance on Saturday is concerned - so we all know where it comes from - a rugby illiterate that tries to pretend that all the has beens of the past is still good enough to play test rugby.

Another Mozart classic. If the performances of a player is sub-par as confirmed by the stats - then forget about both and go with the poor and unacceptable performances of the player = provided he was a top player 6 years ago and provided he is way over 30 years of age. What a feeble joker you are!!!!!!!

The above highlights the danger of trying to use stats to disprove a player. Those same stats are ignored when it comes to favoured players.
I wouldnt just expose a youngster like Lood who has talent. Get him used to taking responsibility rather than throwing him in the deep end. If he consistently continues to outperform other locks then surely he deserves to start. Until then and given the injuries coupled with lack of experience it is wise to have Bakkies around.
The argument may prove null and void if Meyer selects Flip for saturday and shows his hand as to who his real backup 4-lock is

The difference is easy to see. To bring down De Jager - the Welsh needed three players and he still went forward - to bring down Botha one is sufficient. Get the difference?
You are stupid to think that Bakkies is still good enough to play international rugby and nobody is in nots. But then what about saying that Steenkamp and Alberts battered down the Welsh and that made life easy for De Jager? What a stupid comment to make - it would have been funny if it was not so ignorant.

Thanks Mike, you just admitted that naked stats can't tell the whole story. Most of the samples used are far too small to be statistically significant in any case. So stop...it's like giving matches to a child.
Nice post Mick. There is a huge difference coming on as a sub against a beaten team and having the starting responsibity in a big game. Lood looks like a decent lock, but so do a host of other young locks...time will tell who develops and stays healthy. At this stage there are no definitive answers.

I do not normally take the stats of one match as a norm - because players can have an off day. However, in this case I took the three tests Botha played in over the last seven months and tried to determine a trend in performances based on those three matches. In some aspects f the game Botha was poor - in others average. The best one can deduct as a trend in this case is a player of average performance.
That is just not good enough on international level and I think Botha will be phased out over the next three months. He is just not the enforcer he used to be and is weak compared to what he was 5 years ago.

Hey Freddie
Nice to see you back. I know you do not like my ideas about players very much - but that makes life interesting.

Hey Freddie, how do you like ou Maaikie's ideas about the locks. Last week, when Victor was scrumming behind Beast, Beast's scrumming improved because Bakkies was subbed. This week, when first Bakkies and later Lood was scrumming behind Jannie, there was still problems on Jannie's side of the scrum beca use if Victor, who was scrumming behind Gurthro.

I heard from the commentators that Bakkies went off injured. Just when he was injured I dont know. However he was fairly quiet.
Start with Flip and Loodt. Lets get physical with the Welsh.
I believe the Welsh will be fired up after that humiliation. We scored two tries while they were down to 14 men. The second half was not good.Brilliance by Willie is clouding the issues. Beeno taking a sobre view of the test.
