Barrett bolters: Three brothers named for All Blacks tour; NZ Herald

One of New Zealand's most prominent rugby families has reached a new landmark.

Beauden Barrett will be joined by his Canterbury-based brothers Scott and Jordie for the All Blacks' end-of-year tour to the USA and Europe.

Scott, a lock, has been named as injury cover for Sam Whitelock who is out injured for a minimum of three weeks with an ankle sprain, while Brodie Retallick has to pass a concussion test, with Vaea Fifita on standby. A decision on whether Fifita joins the squad will be made this week when Retallick undergoes concussion protocols.

Jordie, a versatile back, has been picked as an apprecentice for the tour.

"We think it has huge benefits for a young player. Jordie will get all the experiences of touring and being part of the All Blacks group without the pressures of having to perform on the park. He is an outstanding prospect and has a big future in the game," All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said.

The trio were announced in an extended squad to play games against Italy, France and two clashes with Ireland.

The squad also features the selection of 19-year-old Auckland outside back Rieko Ioane, and sees the return to the All Blacks squad of his Auckland teammate, 25-year-old loose forward Steven Luatua, who played 14 Tests in 2013-2014. Otago hooker Liam Coltman, who has provided injury cover throughout the season, has also been selected in an official squad for the first time.

 3 Barrett's and only one Ioane but the competition for the loose forwards is really tough. I guess they only take one apprentice on each tour.
A very formidable touring side and good to see the coaches are developing some players (McKenzie, R. Ioane) and giving others another shot (Luatua).
Our starting locks are beat as said above, plus Retallick has a shoulder problem besides the concussion. 
I guess SBW is out of the picture, still recovering from the Achilles.

 The Barretts Dad kept to his word when he said on retiring from Taranaki he was going to go and breed some All Blacks eh ?Man what a gene pool ,their Mum must be a cross between Boadicaea and Xena the warrior princess !

 Congrats on setting the record for consecutive wins. 
This will no doubt be extended past the 20 mark before years end.
An amazing feat.

 Yeah its cool but kinda sad to see 3 other great sides now drop out of the record books .

 The Whitelock's ain't too bad either.

 Have we got a siblings team yet ?

 Don't forget the Savea brothers. The Boks also seem to have family lines in their team from what I remember. 

 A combined Bok/ABs siblings team be a good un I reckon .
