All Black captain Richie McCaw finished his landmark 100th victory in the jersey of his country with a huge bruise on his face -- a present given to him by teammate Owen Franks.
“It was friendly fire I am afraid. I have Owen Franks to thank for this one,” said McCaw.
The New Zealand skipper was responding to a question from a New Zealand journalist at the post-match press conference after his team’s 32-16 win over the Springboks in the final Castle Rugby Championship test at Soccer City in Nasrec outside Johannesburg on Saturday. He was asked if the injury had been given to him by a Springbok player coming in hard.
