I chose 1995 because that was when the game became professional. I have also made it a 23 instead of 15, so that some of the stalemates between players like Habana and Lomu can be avoided. Here is a taster followed by my list.

I have noticed after reviewing my own list that I only have one player who is currently representing his country. I'm not going to change my list now, but do bear in mind what we will say of players that are currently playing, in ten years time. Players like Reid, Etzebeth, Barrett, (Nonu), Pocock, Folau etc etc etc, would surely feature in such a conversation.

This is very hard to choose. I would however have Habana before Lomu. Perhaps Martin Johnson at 4. Dallaglio deserves consideration. Matt Burke and Chris Latham at fullback as well. Tim Horan at 12. There is an abundance of quality hookers, but Keith is a good choice. I'd have Pocock before McCaw. Some other options in the loose trio: Richard Hill, Serge Betsen; Schalk Burger and Juan Smith for the Boks.

Can you imagine trying to defend against that center pairing? Especially with finishers like Lomu and Howlett outside them and Carter directing them all?

Trying to pick the best 2 flanks is almost impossible.

In my opinion, Schalla woukd be impossible to leave out.

Agree, there's no right or wrong teams here . . . although I'm certain there is at least one geriatric and ignorant old fool who'll have something to say about selections he doesn't agree with . . . but here's mine:
