Bismarck du Plessis was cited for stamping on an opponent in the  Currie Cup semifinal against the Cheetahs in Durban.

The Springbok and Sharks hooker received a yellow card in the 65th minute for the incident, which is in breach of Law 10.4 (b). The Law states that a player must not stamp on or trample an opponent.

The time and date of Du Plessis’ disciplinary hearing has yet to be finalised.

If found guilty he could miss this weekend's Currie Cup Final against Western Province at Newlands.

Well surprise, surprise ... all the soft whining kiwis jumping on the band wagon ... gasp!!!! What a shock!!

Fact remains, he's passionate ... driven ... a brilliant rugby player ... and get's carried away at times.

I love him.

Can't think of anyone on the planet who'd want to go head on head with this superb rugby player.

Long may he carry on.

Kiwis are not jumping on the band wagon CC, we are merely tr ying to help the weaker teams understand their deficiencies.

Aaaaaaaaaaah!!!! My mistake!!!

I expect you'd prefer him not to play against the Blacks at all ... cause he's such a "liability" to us.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Ha ha thanks for the laugh Moolaa. "Brutal" attack on Dan Carter. Ha ha so now the kiwi's dont want to play tackle rugby? Would you prefer tag instead?
Brutal attack...So brutal Carter himself acknowledged Bizzy for the hit, the IRB reversed the red and we all left wondering if we will ever see a fair game in NZL.We must remind Bizzy not to tackle the kiwi's too hard and rather take a leaf out of Hore's book vs Wales because thats not too brutal!
All these years we believed Kiwi's enjoyed the physical challenge...tisk tisk!

Bwahahahahahaha I spy the green eyed jealousy spirit arising. Man what the wee abs would give to have Bissie. He would have been knighted by now.
All they have in waiting is Coles - hahahahahaha
It was hardly anything. Let Bissie play we want to beat the full strength sharks side lest rooitwit starts making all sorts of excuses as is his wont.

Er, I thought the subject was the lack of control Bismarck continues to show and how to help get this type of unmitigated thuggery/lack of self-control out of the South African rugby? Please posters, stay on subject and accept a helping hand when offerred.

Bismarck is now "whomping and stomping" his own country men. What's next, attacks on his own team mates? He is starting to remind me of Mongo in the movie Blazzing Saddles. He punched his horse and knocked him out clean, lol

But it's fine with me. Let him continue to play but the refs should be notified to carry an extra pack of yellow and red cards.

Just when I thought you were doing us a solid, the wimpy kiwi sticks it's head out.

I can already see you on bended knees pleading for the ref to produce his red card.

Yes, I think you are right Cloudy. Let it all continue, we should even encourage it. Go Boks, Go Bismarck!

Perhaps it is simply a survival of the fittest/dumbest type thing. Who are we to interfere?

With any luck Skidmark will be banned for a long time.....he's such a blight on a gentleman's game! I'd be surprised if he starts any more Bok tests anyway with Strauss showing good skills and also possessing a brain.Meyer obviously recognised Skidmark's lack of presence in the Ellis Park test and subbed him off.....what an embarrassment for the thug. He had trouble finding the dugout!!

Your not referring to the SBW who got beaten by an old man ... are you?

He's an attention seeking poof!!!

Funny how the ref also had to come to his rescue.

Seems it's not only in rugby but other sports as well.

Anything too rough and the kiwis start crying foul.

CC: we were looking out for South African players. He's not playing us mate, we are not in the least bit concerned.
Sharks are now dropping like flies. Sounds like Bismarck has unleashed on is own team mates.
Coach, please tell him to tackle the guys in the other colored jersey. And don't try and take him off the field before full time he could have ago at you, lol

So he is "innocent" & the answer to the question of this topic is "yes" it was the refs fault.
Could it be that Beeno is right & it is always the refs fault ? The universe is shuddering at the thought

Of course he's innocent.

Just like when Carter fell over hurting himself and Messam went for the Oscar ... he was innocent then too.

stupid bizzy, dont know what he could have been possibly thinking, maybe he did it on purpose hoping to get banned for the final???

i seem to recall lady elizabeth giving ol bizzy a right royal bell ringer (last year???) in a stormers vs sharks game, and bizzy was dazed like a mofo.

dont know if theres been a verdict, but he should get banned for the CC and then an extra match ban for being a dumbass.

Love it GO Bismarck go and kick some but down in the cape

Yes and if it was a player from a other province then you cry babies sharks would have had a lot to say.

Ek kan nie wag om te sien hoe Etzebeth Bismark op sy agterend gaan laat sit nie.

Jacques du Plessis · Top Commenter · Works at Wynandre Kuikens

i watched the highlights yesterday an he clearly stepped on his chest. they don't show it here though. im glad he is cleared though so province can beat a full strength team lol

Digby Leih · University of Johannesburg

This decision is making a further mockery of the rugby laws we have in places. We have had soooo much blatant incompetence of late that damages the image of this great sport. I am again tremendously disappointed and am at the point of discontinuing any involvement with the sport what-so-ever.

Kyle Kylo SeeCow · University of the Western Cape

thats just not right... how do you
stamp on someone intentionally after you try to punch him? is this what sports is all about?

Des Pearce · Top Commenter

This is an appalling decision. All I can say is that if Bismark does something similar on Sat, then he gets a much heavier sanction like a 7 match ban for next season.

Brad Evony · Prinsesa at Evony

I wonder what game that judge footage came from because any man can see that that was no accident

but give Bismarck a change to get his but handed to him again by the perfect yet so young front row from the WP

carlo links· Top Commenter (signed in using Hotmail)

great news, Etzebeth, Fourie and co. work on his nerves abit, he wont last the whole game! Its actualyl better news for WP than for the sharks, as they have to worry and hope he doesnt explode again!. Bissie is a great player but as with many before him, his disciplione always lets him down...common WP!!!

What a load of rubbish. So the whole of the country has seen the stamping except Advocate André Oosthuizen... The video also have assistant referee Cobus Wessels, explaining in detail to the referee, what happened... http://www.supersport.com/rugby/article.aspx?Id=2161504 ..... You SIR are the weakest

..so why do I smell a dead rat here.......This so called judge just set a president for future hearings....wonder where he is from.......Bismarck did exactly the same thing that Rhodes were banned for one match....there is just too many "little" incidents of the ball......but good luck to Bismarck..now he will to face an Etzebeth coming down on him again..... in full cry....and if I can recollect the last encounter he came horribly short!!!!!!

This is judged just on the one angle I saw though, so I have no idea what part of the body was stepped on or if he gauged him or stepped downwards and then off

Ruan Francois le Roux · Boland College Stellenbosch

Whats the difference between this incident and Michael Rhodes' one? He should have gotten a week suspension. Any way, game on!

Jacques Van Den Wijngaerd · Top Commenter · Marketing at Graytec Pty Ltd

The difference is that Rhodes' suspension was based on him going onto the face if i remember correctly, or the throat ... Either way, its a more fair match up now anyway so in totality, rugby won the outcome not Bismarck!

Full strength WP vs full strength Sharks ... No-one could have asked for a better final. Both teams have played well this seasons and deserve to be in the final. May the best team win and lets hope for no cards so it can be 15 vs 15 for 80mins

The Clip posted does not really show anything... go watch the match highlights on the specific time 3:16 - 3:30 http://www.supersport.com/rugby/currie-cup/video/286764 to get a better picture of the incident.

Randy Solomons · Top Commenter · Web Designer & Developer at DataTrac Software Solutions

Probably only let him go on this one because of what it would have taken out of the clash if he did not play. Unfair a little since he really did do it on purpose!

Shaheem Karriem · Grassy Park High

However Rany, he's 1 man. Seems the other 14 are not even worth while mentioning. Sharks get away with bad play since at least the last 20 years when they first won the Currie Cup, after 100 years... WP must just win them like they did in both pool matches

Steve van Rooyen · Top Commenter · Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Don't know how he got away with!

Shaheem Karriem · Grassy Park High

Steven, he got away coz he plays for the Sharks. Supposedly big fan base... that watch on TV at home coz the tank is ALWAYS empty

.

Shaun Searle · John Ross College

This is great news, now we can have near full strength teams contesting what should be an epic final in front of a packed stadium. No excuses from anyone, may the best team win. GO SHARKS

". . . maybe he did it on purpose hoping to get banned for the final???"

No, Bismarck's stamp was pretty stupid but he definitely wouldn't have done it to avoid playing the limp-wristed little WP mincers.

There's been a decision and Bismarck is cleared to play. Must say, I saw it differently.
