What is the point now? We want the benefit of the card being squashed during the game, not after the fact.
Bismarck's red card officially squashed!!
agreed. sort of pointless.
What are you suggesting here, Smallcock? Are you suggesting we go back in time to Bismarck's tackle and do an "inception" on Poitre? Huh? How else do you possibly think we might get the benefit of this latest decision during the game?
I think Mummy's been letting you watch too much Cartoon Network!
It's in the past and there's nothing anyone can do about it now. That's the way things work in the real world, little chap. Sorry to be the one to burst your bubble but hey, at least Bismarck isn't suspended for the next game.
Rooinek, we don't know if he is suspendd yet. The hearing is supposed to be later this week. So we will see maybe at least the good we get out of the retraction is that he will be able to play.
Well, I would think the retraction of the red card means there won't be a hearing or a suspension. What would he be suspended for?
Anyway, my reply on this thread was more aimed at Smallcock stamping his little feet and demanding that the Springboks get some kind of on-field benefit from this decision. I'm very interested to know how he thinks that might be achieved.
By using the Tardis and getting Dr Who to help, Rooinek.
He would make it all better :)
Great Idea Becs :) .... The good Doctor will fix it.
Papmoa - It is an acceptable suggestion that they sit down and discuss this, but honestly I fear it will stay at a discussion. You second suggestion of just letting the NH refs stay there and us reffing ourselves is great, that is for us though. In general I don't think it's a solution for the global game. The only solution will be for synergy in the way all refs from across the globe interpret the rules. Alas by the time we get that I'll probably be old and grey.
Rooinek - you might be right the retraction could mean that there will be no hearing, I am not that clued up on the process, I do know however this morning the hearing was still on for later this week.
Yeah, your Ref's are all great ! I mean, Steve Walsh might look good...no denying that ( well, he doesn't have a lot of competition, let's face it :) ) but he seems incapable of making any decisions on his own these days ! When he does, finally come to a conclusion, it's usally the wrong one. Completely crazy. But he does get a lot of camera time !!
You play the game differently, it doesn't mean you play it right. The interpretation of Rules is different, It doesn't mean it is always right.
Poite was wrong on many things. Some he got right. Don't forget that.
And yes, Ek. I think it's the only way we can sort this issue out and pacify poor Sharkbok :)
Hullo becs, me darling, hope you tuning in to 'Peaky Blinders' . Keep well
Oh yes, take the bonus point away, be nice .
Still 5pts .v. OZ, ditto .v. ABs & the cup's ours .
.
It was always going to be retracted ... the moment he issued it was the moment we all saw this blundering idiot for what he is.
Except of course for a few kiwis who took awhile to catch up ... unbelievably some arses are still crying foul ...
No red ... no further hearings ... no suspending the man ...
Hello Blob :) Lovely to see your cat in the hat :)
I haven't watched it yet but have recorded it for later......so much on and not had time for it all. Can't keep up with things now the Rugby Season has started over here too. Loads to watch.....The Guilty, Whitechapel's back...can't even think of half of it ! You enjoying Peaky Blinders then ?
I think the match was poor on Saturday, he was dreadful, but we have had him Ref us in a similar fashion ( not a Red card issue ) but Yellow's and Penalty decision's that have lost us matches or made the whole game totally awful. But that's the game. It shouldn't happen, but it does :(
I agree that you can still win and I hope you do. You know that. You're still my team ! :)
You guys may not support me, but I still support you. That never changes and I doubt it ever will.
Becs yep, its hot ........ Whitechapel, they never catch anyone !
Good !! I'll get to watch it soon enough ! Can't remember everything else I've been catching up with..the last series of Dexter. Did you watch Banshee ? Now that was fun :) Enjoyed that ! Looking forward to the new series !
I watched The White Queen. I have read the books on which it was based and the latest installment has just been written.
The whole thing happened in my neck of the woods. Elizabeth Woodville is big in this area....would've been nice if they had actually filmed the thing here instead of going off on a jolly to Flanders.
It was catually not historically quite accurate, as these things rarely are.
But I was going to write my own book on the Richard III until illness took over. I was told that my theory did not match with regular Historians thinking of the time, this was over 20 years ago now. Seems my thoughts are coming more into Historical circles !! Sad to say, I would have got there first.
He wasn't an evil hunchback who killed his nephews. And it was a set up.
And please, from a man who lives in America ! I love all this talk of integrity.
They do say Americans don't understand Irony...must rub off on those who become residents too :)
Rooinek, its easy..Its like when you and the mrs fool around. She wants the benefit of it during, not after when she needs the toys to do what your little prick couldnt...You are like NZL, she is SA. You have a great time, she is left stranded while you "celebrate!"
Now, what I propose and I believe if they can alter a card after the game, they have strong reason to believe it was the ultimate wrong call and cheating. Why not as little consellation to SA on this occasion, wipe that 10 mins out of the game. Points scored by both teams are wiped out. Lets forget the second yellow that lead to the red on this occasion. There was 7 NZL points scored during that period of play. Wipe that out and the score sits at 22 - 15. This means that the Boks get a bonus point and NZL only get the 4 for the win. This changes the log to 17 points for NZL and 15 for SA which is a damn sight better than the current 18 to NZL and 14 to Boks. Thats a whole extra win for NZL.
Who knows what could have happened. Maybe NZL would not have got another try because we still saw another 38 Bismarckless minutes in the second half. We swopped Bismarck and Alberts for Strauss which is never going to be any good. Taking nothing away from Strauss but he can not match Bismarck in a game like that and the mood Bismarck was in.
I know it will never happen but if they are saying that the card should never have happened in the first place and willing to expunge it, this means that we were unfairly put at a disadvantage, This means that all play that transpired under the card was unfair to the Boks who were punished for nothing but a great tackle! The whole game would have been different as Bismarcks elbow on Messam would have seen him off for only 10 mins which is a whole lot less disadvantage than 50 mins of a test match.
Its not enough to just say, "We made a mistake!" It now has a massive influence on the overall championship result. We need refs to be more accountable. How come it is always the Boks that have to pay for reffing incompetence. Bryce Lawrence. Romain Poite. Kiwi's can say what they want about Wayne Barnes but he made one incorrect call. Rest of the game he was fine. Fact remains the French still opened the AB's defence up like a can of beans and they deserved the score. Crying because the ball may have travelled 1cm forward. Bryce Lawrence miraculously called Pat Lambie back after a JDV pass that would have seen Boks win that Semi. It may have been forward but how Lawrence calls it from behind the players is beyond me. At least Barnes consulted with others. Lawrence just sommer blew the whistle. No need to check. We were blatantly cheated by Poite and Lawrence. Does Poite really want to be the first ref to see the AB's lose the record at Eden park!
Wayne Barnes made one incorrect call Logic?
It wasn't the calls he made that cost us the game, it was the calls he didn't make! e.g. He didn't penalise the Frogs ONCE in the last 60 minutes of that game.
Still, 6 years on, I'm over it...............
Moolaa, but the wheel turns. Had it not been for calls that Joubert "didn't" make, then the AB's might not have won the 2011 WC.
Craig Joubert's refereeing was heavily criticized by the French team[17][18][19][20] but also by many international observers:[21][22] "ignoring offside play and breakdown indiscretions that should have cost the home team penalties" according to Australia's Sydney Morning Herald Greg Growden,[23] he "refereed France but not the All Blacks",[24] "infuriating even neutrals" according to UK's The Guardian .[25]
In Ireland, The Irish Independent stated laconically that "France were significantly better over 80 minutes" and "Craig Joubert did not referee evenly" and "some of the decisions were disgraceful for a game of this magnitude",[26] while Setanta Sports produced a video analysis of what they called a "unbelievable", "shamefull performance from Joubert",[27] concluding "the world cup was decided on non-refereeing decisions".
That is from Wikipedia on the game. As you can see, 4 years later and it worked in NZL's favour. Sure the penalty count was 7 against AB's and 10 against France so it doesn't look too bad but France did most the playing. Especially in the last 20mins of the game, even longer. How can a team with Richie McCaw in it that play like the AB's do at breakdown (always on the edge) and are under immense pressure and just asked to defend not give away penalties in kickable positions when breakdowns are left solely up to the ref.
It comes back to my statement of refs not believing that the AB's can lose at Eden park or not wanting to be "that guy!"
As much as you guys think you are feared by the rugby world, that belief is very much misplaced. NZL home matches are becoming marred by ref decisions and a farce and a laughing stock. Its been so long since we left a game happy with what we have seen. Aus were hard done by in Wellington thanks to Peyper and some ridiculous fear he had to go against the AB's no matter what they did.. The Boks taken out of the contest in Eden park..Its ridiculous and ruining the game. The Boks will never win in NZL like this!
this must be Hoskins moving behind the scenes at the IRB to squash the yellow card! There must be an IRB conspiracy going on! Heck I am even sounding like a Boks fan!
