Bismarck suffered a neck injury

Bismarck had to get a neck operation as a result of an injury that would take him out of the game for months to come.  Indeed a great pity for any rugby player to get injured. 

In the meantime still suggested that he be in the Springbok squad, but I think the injury would leave him playing of rugby late in the Top 14 competition and could result in him losing out on future Springbok selection - he is already going to be 34 years of age and his performances for Montpellier was not very hot.

Another site favourite of some members Francois Steyn is also injured and his last game for Montpellier was on 22 August 2018 and he was poor in the games prior to that.   

So our members who support the two players may not see them playing for the Springboks again in future.

All the best to Bissie in what will undoubtedly be a strong and speedy recovery. Steel girders don't take long to repair. However, any slim chance of a WC spot is gone.

A neck injury is a serious thing, I wish him well.

I am seriously critical of the selection of Brits as well.   However, I do not look at games with tinted glasses and made critical assessments afterwards.    Besides that I also check first if there are indications in the stats I am wrong in my assessments.   

So unlike your dreams about what you wish to happen and close your eyes when  something did happen and you did  not want to see it - my assessments are normally near to the mark as to performance of players.

I wish Bismarck still performs like he did up to 2014 - there were some indications  that he started to slip by 2015 - I would still be his strongest supporter.   But he is not and I doubt whether his contract will be renewed anyway,

No - I mentioned that Fat Fransie is injured and you should have jumped at that excuse for his omission from the Springboks squad this time around.   However. from the games I have seen he was his normal substandard level player before injury.
