I would have been so pissed off if they had made Matfield captain! As the article on the home page suggests, Bizmark kept it together under huge pressure against the Crusaders for a win against all the odds. That along with his performance as captain the whole season and I see no reason for the waaaay too old Matfield to get the nod.
Good call Meyer!

Beans, Burger is not the man, even if he was not injured. Bizmark is the logical choice because Burger is not going to be around for much longer, he is too injury prone to be a viable option. The fact that he has been so injury riddled the last while is tribute to how hard he plays the game, but it is also the reason that he is old beyond his years with regards to injuries. Bizzie on the other hand still realistically should still be around for a good few years, and like Burger before him, his club captaincy seems to have ironed out some of his discipline issues.
Respect to Burger, because he is an effective captain, but time is not his friend.
Bizzie the right call all the way.

Burger has had two years rest. Coenie bumping into another player like that might have killed the oke.The idea Burger is injury prone is not compelling. He could well be around for the WC.Burger has just turned 32.

I am the one that would have been really pissed off if Bismarck was not made the interim captain.
Although Burger showed how a looseie should in fact play - I do not think his body will take it to play on high level.  He was too frequently injured since his return and I cannot see how he can last through to next year.

I'll be very surprised if Matfield isn't starting.

Under Meyer, its a given that old Matfield will start - shocking really and really, really pisses me off
