The chances of Evan Roos playing in the RWC this year seem quite slim now after he picked up a serious knee injury on Saturday just 14 minutes into the game between Ulster and the Stompies.

Stormers coach Paul Dobson says Roos will likely be out for the remainder of the club rugby season and while he may be fit again in time for the RWC, he won't have the game time to play his way onto the Springbok team and displace Jasper Wiese . . . which is a great pity as Wiese is pretty average while Roos is consistently brilliant.

Skinstad, Big Joe….now Roos. These brilliant Bok number 8s keep picking up career threatening knee injuries.

It's not much of a blow given he hasn't established himself in the team. He hasn't taken the step up to test level. Yet. Wiese is thriving.

The only irreplaceable Bok forward is Eben.

I'm not seeing how Wiese is average either.

Guy has been good every time despite very few caps.

Agreed huge blow Wiese has been good as dumb muscle if that’s all you want from your test 8

So you want more than dumb muscle in your number 8, but you are willing to settle for dumb muscle at 12?

Mozart

What the hell has De Allende got to do with this thread.   Talking about dumb muscle try Esterhuizen for that.

Vermeulen was rested for the EOYT. He was out of form in the 4 nations and looked well off the pace of the game.  Rassie will be looking on with admiration as he sees Vermeulen's form improving. He is not past it yet...

Past his own best but like in the World Cup final he still had enough in the tank to win man of the match in the Bok victory in 2019.

Jasper will be an impact player at most off the bench.

Only the rugby ignorant would classify DA as dumb muscle Imagine 3 different sources picking dumb muscle as their best 12 in the game 12 being one of the most important positions on the field Dream on

I don't see Wiese being demoted now. Erasmus seems to trust him more than Duane.

You might be right.....but I think that Duane, will definitely be a part of the WC Squad.

I agree. Erasmus does like having some experience, especially on the bench. Those players like Thor and Frans are closers. Such as Frans saving three tests in 2021.

There might possibly also be some sentiment involved from R&N....as this will most probably be there last world cup.

Nothing wrong with DA’s rugby IQ at all, if it was as bad as you make it out to be he would not have played a single test match let alone be the first choice 12 for the Boks for years now and been selected as the best 12 in the game Inside centre is too vital a decision making position to have some idiot plying his trade there at the highest level

Wiese was lucky to stay on the pitch on Saturday. He tried to break Alex Waller’s ankle. Not sure if he’ll be cited but he should be.

Wiese is unfortunately a bit stupid. Is not clear if he is a dirty player, or just a clumsy one

The first match I saw De Allende playing he was a bench  player used as a wing.  He virtually on his own won the match for the WP.   He was identified by Zondagh -then Head of WP Rugby - identified De Allende when he saw him playing for Milnerton High School in a minor match and said he will determine whether he would be a suitable Springbok player if he applies himself fully to be an ideal rugby player.

He was then used as inside center in the CC Final and did not sdisgarced himself in that game.

Mozart and his fellow prejudiced BSters did not realize what happened in the CC Final in 2019.  De Allende and Du Toit destroyed  the backline functioning of the England team - and neutralized one of the strongest part of the English team whicch in fact helped them to beat the AB's in the semi.

Sharkbok, this wasn’t a clumsy action it was deliberate. He was pressing down on the shin whilst twisting the ankle. Not pleasant.

Wiese can have a rush of blood. Though, it's a far cry from headbutting an opponent in plain sight

Waller did nothing, actually. Wiese trapped him under a pile of bodies by leaning on his shin and then kept twisting his ankle. Not nice and potentially very dangerous.

I saw the video.....Wiese hun g onto his ankle from the Bottom and Waller turned while having to deal with tackles from the top....then his ankle started twisting....Wiese should have let go.

We need someone to have a word to him about off-the-ball stuff, like Jake did with Schalk and a few others. It's the only thing I don't like about his game, and I don't understand why our players don't seem to be held into account for seemingly anything at all. Discipline is a top-down manifestation.

He needs to quit the nasty stuff and just concentrate on playing the game

Just read the headline… Sounded like something we heard about in the papers in August last year! …speaking of which, has anything else been made of the drug scandal? Or did SARU sweep it under the rug? I don’t hear much on my side about it.

"Sounded like something we heard about in the papers in August last year!"
LMAO!
Yes, in retrospect I could have chosen my words for the title a bit more carefully. Apart from implying that Boks have a decent supply of bong, it could also have meant Elton Jantjies was on another flight!
PS Chippo, those boobs look almost as big as ou Maaik's. Were you Mrs Searle?

In other news A bunch of my brothers had a lekker jol with Eben in Sun City for his bachelors. They were there having a bachelors for someone else. A few beers down… And a lot was revealed by our adorned enforcer on the springbok blow. I’d love to reveal what was said, but it was quite hectic and friends could be inplicated. But what was nice to know is that for the past 18 months everyone that was involved has been clean.
