Has been a solid addition to the squad. He was given a huge responsibility to start against France - credit to Rassie for doing this as it’s a test, an opportunity for the player to learn under the toughest conditions.
On Saturday he stood firm in the scrums but Rassie made the ruthless call to sub him at minute 31, I think.
When he came off he looked a bit confused, seeking an explanation from Vermeulen.
It appears that his test match intensity was not where it should have been but it’s all part of his education. He will come back better for it.
Im guessing the poor man got little sleep the night before, had to wait till 8pm for kick off, threw everything into the scrums and was left dead on his feet when it came to intensity outside his scrum responsibilities
