Poor old Newlands are laying vrot, the carcass is still there, no grass, just a dust patch of a once great stadium with all of its quirks. The DA went out of its way to defunct WP so that they can get a crowd into the Cape Town stadium next to where all the Nigerian drug dealers litter the road along will all the sketch prostitutes in Sea Point, flanked by all the corrupt ANC cadre's like good old Cyril that has many floors over looking the ocean.
Gone are the lekker vibes, the newland neighbourhood and the standing section where you had all races shouting for WP.
It was probably one of my favourite stadiums. You are really close to the action and the crowd.
I blame the coloured faction that took WP over due to sheer numbers and incompetence.
WP was run into the ground. It was the only Province that owned its own stadium and was cash rich. All the other unions moaned because the could bring the best players to come and play, not that they needed to.
I never liked the Stormers name. It just never stuck. At least the Sharks,Bulls and Cheetahs stuck as that was their symbol.
