Bok fans say Coetzee must go

The knives were out for the Bok mentor when his side returned from their recent northern hemisphere tour with two wins from four Tests.

It left the Boks with seven wins from 13 matches this year while Coetzee now has 11 wins from 25 since taking over as national coach last year.

Record 57-0 losses to the All Blacks and 38-3 at the hands of Ireland were the low points of South Africa's year, and those results were reason enough for the vast majority of fans to give up on the former Stormers mentor. 

SA Rugby is yet to make a decision on Coetzee's future - those discussions are set to take place this week - but it has been widely reported that he will lose his job.

According to a poll conducted on Sport24, that would be a popular decision.

We asked Bok fans the simple question: Should Coetzee stay or go?

The results were overwhelming!

Over 8 000 people took part in the vote and, of those, a staggering 92% believed that Coetzee couldn't be fired fast enough.

There were 8% who believed that Coetzee needed time and that he was the man to take the Boks to the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

We have a passion for the sport and most believe that what's happened over the last two seasons isn't a true reflection of our potential.

I tend to agree with them.

It really is time that Alister moves on and makes way for another person. I just hope it's one who understands the sport better.

Rumours are going around that it could be Davids from the Kings that takes over from Alister.

There is no point replacing him with another coach that is not up to standard, which unfortunately is the case with most of our coaches,

The only decent coaches we have are:

1. Jake White (Not wanted, has a job in Japan)
   
2. Rassie/ & Neighnabaar (The brains of the operation?).
   
3. Ackerman (coaching in England)
   
4. Mallet (retired, tv anchor).
   
5. Meyer(involved with school stuff).
   
6. Davids (may have potential).

Surely you're not suggesting we persist with him?

Can there be anyone worse? I don't think so.

Mallet, White and Meyer will never coach the Springboks again. I don't understand why people keep throwing their names into the hat.

We need someone to take us forward. Alister has shown us that he isn't the man for the job. 

To tell you the truth, I'm not so sure about Rassie being our messiah either.

I see there's talk of Pieter De Villiers (69 tests for France) taking over from Matt Proudfoot.

What's your take on that?

It's even being suggested that Erasmus may only appoint assistant coaches under him and add the role of head coach to his busy schedule. Looks like he's opting for a hands on approach with total control over team selection and personally seeing to the game plan.

This could become interesting.

I'm suddenly filled with hope.

Even Snorre will be an improvement on AC, so I'll be giving Davids a fair look if he is indeed appointed now, even though I think it would be a mistake to give him the gig ATM. 

Drug Un Rassie is the sharpest rugby brain around. Takes one to recognise one of course.

Dr Brendon Venter is another fine coach as his record shows.

There is absolutely no reason (apart from bigotry and rank stupidity) why men like White,and Mallet cant again coach the Boks. I am not too sure about Meyer being a top coach. Defii ntely a solid coach but lacks that creative spark.
