Dream on....Goosen was dropped for very good reasons, that wont change. He is what he is, a fragile chap with very little guts. At fullback he lost the ball more than any other player in the games he played.....imagine what he would do trying to run in traffic. Like Jantjies a dream.

Before the RC 95% of posters on this Board thought Jantjies was going to be the answer and Tokkie was an exception, to his credit. Now that same wave of hope has somehow shifted to Goosen with no evidence in his test play to even suggest he is ready to compete.

And behind him is Lambie who was horribly charged for a try.....imagine if Morne had done that, the howls of anger! And absolutely nothing else Lambie did was effective. Then there is his record, the man in charge against Japan. Lambie is a small, slow chap with a predictable inside step....and he is going to unleash Bok back play after all these years? Give me a break.

Morne is not the answer, but he was the only man who was going to save the Boks from a whitewash against Oz and NZ. And he did. To expect him to overcome all our deficits against NZ was naive. He is a great bench option because of his experience and nerve at the death.

The logical answer is Pollard who showed that same nerve against NZ in the WC semi, making all his goal kicks. He also provides an attacking threat. But that's the Pollard we know. The player who comes back next season after missing a year of rugby has been through serious illness and injury. I hope he still has his pace and self confidence.

Otherwise we turn to even younger players like young du Plessis for hope of an all round flyhalf, the time for Frans has gone.
But what a waste that was. A few charged kicks in his youth and SA rugby discarded a man with a huge boot, flypaper hands and the strength of a loosie. And I might add the guts to win the WC at 20. Trust South African rugby to look a gift horse like Frans in the mouth and at the same time give favourites like Jantjies, Goosen and Lambie chance after chance.

You started your argument based on aa foolish and shortsighted selection by Coetzee.   That immediately devalue the rest of your contribution to near to zero.   In this rgard it must be mentioned that Goosen was not used at flyhalf - so the s!it start from your first sentence.
However, I support your idea about Pollard and differ from you about Lambie.  He was off for months and never really played  at flyhalf in thsts game either.  It was clear that Lambie was not really matchfit for the game in question.
As to Steyn - his aimless kicking and defense was atrocious and his attacking play non-existent.    He is the worst player anybody should have in that team and he should never ever have been in the squad.

Wow...you're right. What a great impact player he is. Don't you guys imagine the IMPACT he would bring 20 minutes before the end of the match? Man, he would bring some speed!!!

And here I though Ardie Savea was a great bench player, with his endless supply of energy...nah. Morne is the real deal xD

(Fat Fransie btw is one of the most dirty SA backs I have ever had the displeasure to witness...the guy has no control over himself and thinks just cause he's big he can bully anyone)

Disappointing. There is always some hope when a new poster arrives....will we get something new, something fresh....thoughtful. So far you are right down main street making the conventional arguments and you have now added witless sarcasm to the mix. Nope, there's nothing here.....given each new input I could predict your every response. Just another waste of space.

Your inputs are all about the same stories and is never different with variations.   The  same players are always attacked and the same whitewashing of others is a given.
When people realize how stupid your comments have been and responded and point out your silliness you come up with the kind of response to what Quacky wrote.
Morne is no impact player - he has no attacking nous - and  his poor aimless kicking is a negative.    So why is Quacky wrong about pointing it out?

Witless sarcasm...I can't handle those big words, just too much. How can you handle this shower of eloquency  Mike?

But back to the point, the role of a bench player is to be a game changer. You can't possibly expect to "change" a game against the All Blacks by introducing a guy that can score 3 points at a time...that's madness. I only agree with you on Pollard, that one is THE number 10 for South Africa!

Sorry to dissapoint you Mozart, I guess everyone who doesn't conform to your opinion is a lost cause.

You cant handle the 'big words'....tough titty. As to your stupid point about a bench player. Morne Steyn was a bench player in the second test against the Lions in 2009 and won the series. There is nothing more valuable on the field in the last few minutes of a very close test than a secure goal kicker. So there you have it, in the very role you say he is not suitable for he won a Lions series...arguably the most prestigious thing you can win apart from a WC. Enjoy your crow plank.

*Standing ovation*

You sir, just won the internet. Congratulations!

You can keep your Morne Steyn...I'm sure he will be very "pretigious" in the future games.
And I really want to laugh, but since you're actually being serious it's kinda sad.

I would like to see Goosen get another run at 10 (with a decent backline coach).  If he won the best player in France- and he scored 2 tries in his few touches of the ball on attacking play.
He was solid at the back- and better than Lambie.
Pollard lacks a territorial kicking game. He too would be good with a backline coach

Morne Steyn did well to help win against Australia- and the Boks were so poor he kept the board ticking over.
His drop goals did kill some of the better attacking moments- but the coaches understand simple Morne

Exactly shark, unfortunately brain damaged Coetzee didn't try him at 10, and just threw him to the emergency position left by Le Roux...the guy did what he could, but you can only do so much for your team in an unknown position :/

What yall need is the love-child of Pollard and Morne. One who can kick the hide off the ball and run and organise a backline .

Pollard could even play at 12- with Goosen at 10. They could take care of the kicking and bring a more expansive game.
Instead, we have Morne who understands and agrees with the coaches game plans.

 Mozart, that is exactly right.
Why people claim the Goosen is the answer with absolutely no evidence that he is international quality is beyond me.

If you think the flyhalf is the problem for the demolition, you are sadly mistaken.
Not one single player in that team was responsible for that demolition. It's the SA rugby system as a whole that is responsible for that. It is seriously wrong to think one player (who has beaten the all blacks before) was responsible for that. Totally unfair on him.

Mr Pace its the same old stuff....great talent supposedly betrayed by politicians and coaches. No problem if Goosen misses 40% of his tackles.....he is a victim of a coach who wont play him at flyhalf. Forget about the fact that he spent much of his time playing outside centre in France. The only guy who killed this BS for one WC cycle was PdV who gave the mob what they wanted.....and that was enough, the fans almost begged him to bring back Jake's team. In South African rugby every day is Groundhog day.

Acccording to you - huge problem if Goosen scored two tries and assist in 2 more, since according to you try scoring is a mortal sin - never to be mentioned on this site.   A flyhalf is there to kick balls aimlessly - hence your support of Morne - a worse defender than Goosen as proven in their last three starting tests.   And Morne in 2009 may have been slightly better than he is now - he won tests because of kicking at goal - a great achievement in your book since kicking (any kicking - aimless or not) is 90% of what is required from a flyhalf .
When are you going to correct and apologize for your lie about the Kerevi try-saving tackle by Goosen?
Finally - what makes you the most prejudiced and ignorant member of this site?

What we need is a little intelligence at 10.
Someone who plays flat ... someone who can put his outside man into space ... a solid defender ... someone who isn't afraid of contact ... someone who has the necessary skill set to select an assortment of options from. The inside ball ... attacking space ... passing in contact ... the use of little chip kicks ... the grubber ... high bombs and of course defensive line kicks.
We only have two options ... Pat Lambie and Handre Pollard.
Johan Goosen wasn't given a shot at 10 by the quota coach so I cannot make a judgement call on him ... however having just received an award as top dog up north I would absolutely bring him into the mix and see what he has to offer us ... AT TEN.
Both he and Lambie are not full back options. It was silly to even consider them for the Bok 15 jersey.
Morne Steyn is one dimensional. He is an easy read ... he stands too deep which limits his options to a kicking game only and sadly he can't even do that properly ... he is afraid of contact and tries to avoid it at every turn ... a coward in other words ... a poor defender with nothing on attack ... has no pace to make up for what he lacks in other departments ... and I seriously have my doubts whether he'll get a single blip on his EEG.
Fat Fransie is with out doubt the stupidest rugby player on the planet. He doesn't have a brain to monitor. I'm convinced they gave him a lobotomy at birth. Merely by speaking to him confirms this. His one and only desire is to slot a drop goal from his own 22. How many times have we not seen this fool send a "voer voer" ball into the stands?? On top of that he loses the ball in contact ... is easily stripped of it ... is easily turned over ... hasn't learnt how to pass yet ... hogs the ball for himself ... and makes regular poor decisions.
He is also prone to carding through dirty play.
I have tried to think of a single positive thing about him ... and am left after 10 minutes till scratching my head. Sorry ... he's simply awful and should never be considered.
Jantjies just doesn't have the temperament for the big arena. Nerves has him beat. No doubt a talent but fear rules him like Mike rules Mozart.
Quacky ... I am very pleased to see you standing up for yourself. Mozart is all bluster and fokol binne goed. Keep it up!!
Oh and by the way ... it's you and your Cheetahs vs me and the awesome, the incredible Lioonnnnnnnnnnnnnnsssssssssss!!!!
You're going down brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Goooooooooooooooooooo Lionssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Kleintjie Carel can calm down a bit and settle he might be a real contender, but he is still too green and might also be injury prone.

Actually I love both teams, and I'm so proud of what the Lions achieved this year...but today is the Cheetahs day! Either way, it doesn't matter which team wins, since they're both FUC*KING AWESOME xD

Game on!!!

Why people claim the Goosen is the answer with absolutely no evidence that he is international quality is beyond me.

Yet it is usual supporter behaviour. Supporters desire to keep watching games. They will take any offer in line ups over the conclusion that no player fit the bill.

Write a few names, claim that the first is the solution. When fielded and failed, take to the second, rinse, repeat until the last name. When the last name is hit, resume with the first.

The continuation of professional  XV rugby in SA is highly questionable (actually, the introduction of professional XV rugby in SA was highly questionable)

It is very hard to find any justification for the continuation of professional XV rugby in SA: it is a waste of resources, it brings no prestige, it is not a source of national cohesion, it has no educational value, it is not a tradition in SA.

Very hard to find a way to justify.

For sure, supporters though who desire to keep watching games are going to go endlessly on the providential line up.
