I'm hoping to open up a thread that we can comment on through out the season.
So we have the waining Willie that has made so many mistakes, one wonders how much longer will he be in the squad. The next question, who should be at 15.
So here is my ranking based on what I have seen to date.
1. Tyrone Green
2. Warrick Gelant
3. Williie
4. Willemse
5. Fassi
Tyrone Green has been putting i huger performances for Herlequins all season. Great linking player, runs good support lines and has a nose for breaking the line. But, I feel that he doesn't have enough pace or know how well he kicks. But he is probably the best 15 in the premiership which speaks a lot of how good he is. Despite his limitations.
Gelant has had only a couple of games back but we all know his talent, made a huge impact when coming on for Wiillemse and made a massive impact when starting. Very smart player and probably be selected ahead of Green.
Willemse is a physical player that looks to step first and only pass when he has no other options. Counts against him as both a fullback and a flyhalf. The boks use their fullback as a 2nd 10. He is physical enough to play 12, but then we have Esterhuize and De Allende, not to mention Am that can play 12 too. Just no room for him in the squad, he needs to man up, pick a position and learn how not to be a solo player.
Fassi, what a talent. Fassi had a few bad games in a row, conceded a penalty try, then went MIA in the 2nd match. Two bad games in a row.
He has the height, speed and a great boot, not to mention the hands. Definitely my favourite and would love to see him tear up the rugby field for the boks. Reminds me a lot of Isreal Falou. BUT, needs to work on his defence, stay calm and not become to re-active. Need to be a bit more physical on defence and not get caught out of position. But this will come. probably a couple of years away.
