These are my views for better or worse. Let's try to keep this analytical and not personal. I'm not claiming to be right.

Willie le Roux....made a few mistakes, but added bite to the Bok backline. He is a feel player and will get better if he believes that he belongs, but his handling, tackling and sense of space were a quantum leap forward.

Basson is not my favourite, but in today's company he was fine. The problems will emerge against big NZ or Oz wings.

Engelbrecht was a mixed bag. He really should have scored two more tries. He never slowed up in the last strides before his knock on...at that speed he would have done better kicking it over the line and falling on it. The other try was a sure fire slide into home base. But he did back up the Habana break, something Jaque Fourie often failed to do....and the pace is truly exciting. He may be the fastest 13 in the game...but Nokwe and Chavanga were lightning and never made it. There's lots of work ahead.

Jean is just playing great rugby....his defence, handling and timing on break outs is outstanding.

Habana.....say no more. He should never have had gaps like that to run through.....but what he did with the opportunities was text book.

Morne looked like a flyhalf playing by the numbers....little inside passes....but the missed tackle was disappointing. Seems to have really found his kicking boots though.

Vermaak was industrious and didn't look at all over awed. It's a shame about the hammie. Pienaar came in like a well fitting glove, slipping seamlessly into the Bok pattern. This guy is our best scrummie at top level, even if fans don't appreciate his style.

Beast was under the cosh from Castro. I have seen a lot of negative comments about Jannie, but I think the Beast was far more fragile and the scrum peeled up from his side. He looked like a wet rag on the bench. But then Castro is a mighty prop.

Strauss was outstanding all game. His handling, avoidance of penalties, lineout work and power on the burst make him very hard to leave out. I think he could surpass John Smit as a pure captain.....what a dilemma with Bismarck.

Jannie was ok today I thought......picked up one technical penalty but scrummed pretty well. The problem is he is simply a scrummager....not a bull in the loose like Coenie.

Eben had a fine game, but even a fine game for this giant creates a sense of disappointment. You were waiting for him to do a "Bismarck" on Castro, or something like that. Still he did his job and more.

Juandre Kruger after some great games for the Bools had a damp squib. He hardly challenged in the lineouts and wasn't seen that much in defence. With the competition he's likely to face, that performance wont make his place any more secure.

Francois Louw was outstanding in the early stages of the test. His numbers look good with a high tackle count. What a difference a real pro makes.

Botha had a good test.....not quite as explosive as I had hoped. He wasn't unleashed on any of his trademark runs. Still he tackled ferociously and used his strength in the mauls. He might need to do a bit more to make his place secure.

Having said that Spies seems to do almost nothing test after test and still get picked. This seems to be some kind of security blanket thing.....although why Meyer feels he needs him beats me. This guy never learned to use his speed to get in among the backs and his tackling is pretty ordinary. He is no corner flagger like Big Joe.

Just a word on Serfontein. This kid came onto the test park as if to the manor born.....no nerves just a desire to get on with things. He had nothing to do, but looked good doing it.

To be honest I am not a very big fan of this player rating thingy.

Rugby is a team sport. And your stars altough individual brilliance is a bonus they still need help from the team mates for other players to perform. Boks have been plagued by individuals last couple of years. when highly talented and skilled individuals in teams fall short of expectations simply because they rely on their individual abilities in stead of creating constructive synergy by merging their talents with the rest of the group.

Sharks are a great example of individuals. We need consistancy on the bench and with the team. This every game a different bench nonsense must come to a end

My apologies for this format thing. I have changed my system and it doesn't seem to be accepting my paragraphs on this site. I'll use my I Pad for the moment.

Matey I wouldn't change too much. Pienaar for the injured Vermaak. In the pack the Beast is unlikely to have another Castro experience, but a change at tighthead is tempting. Kruger could be changed, but the alternative choice isn't obvious with Steph injured and Bekker excluded. Alberts for Spies would get my vote.

Mozart Back to normal with you - replacing Spies with Alberts is like replacing absolutely useless with useless. Don't think that Alberts would play anyway - he was injured and has no decent comeback game at this stage. Likely to be still on the injury list as far as I can figure out. I think the changes would be Lambie with Steyn on the bench. Replacing Jannie and put him on the bench. there could also be other changes as well. With Meyer around - he would likely bring in Kirchnerinstead of Le Roux - he is crazy as we all know by now.

Mozart What on earth are you on about? Habana and Nonu were poor in Super 15 - and every objective person would agree with me there. So facts are facts - I never said in advance anything about Habana not being recommended for the Springbok team. Nonu I was pessimistic about - but he had an above average game on Saturday - not fautless - but above average. I am not a one-incident jek and saw what happened throughout the whole game. Habana had an excellent game on Saturday - so he did up his game massively. However, I know by now that you are never objective in player assessments. My word for you is De Jongh and Alberts - stick with your donkeys you so admire..

Mozart Grabbing at straws once more - if you want to make constructive comments - please stick to facts. I always do. I said lst year thatTaute had a very good record with the Lions at full back - statistically better than the one of Kirchner. I also said that Jordaan has the potential to advance further - based on his performance last year. I WENT ON TO SAY THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO PROVE THEMSELVES IN SUPER 15 THIS YEAR. They did not and that is where th story ends. Facts and not fiction. Stick to Alberts, De Jongh and Kruger - your heroes they were flops last year and flops this year as well.

Fair comment Dr Moz fo rthe most part. I think you undervalue JJ performance and hownear he is to being the real deal. That pce of hs issuperb -looked even faster than Basson.

Beast faded away again and janiie is ordinary. Our best prop combo is Coenie and Malherbe. I would play Best for 30 minutes as an impact player. I can only wonder if that heart issue is affecting him. Looking at Trevor his build would indicate heis an ideal tighthead?

I have to agree with Mike re Nonu. h ehas been poor all season. In the test match he brok two ackles and was able to run into space. Now was tha tbeciase Nonu was so grea tall o fa sudden or because the tackling was weak. Long may nonu ans wee conrad continue for the abs.

Mike said haban did no thave  great Super 15. Well its probably true but what wing in the entire world would thrive playing for the Sortmers under their brainless coach!!!!  So Mike is more right than wrong on that score I reckon.

As to Spies its hard these days, apart from some rabid bulle supporter like ou windpomp (Who has lots of facts but is all confused and long winded about them - hahahahahaha - professional wind bag!), who would support his continued inclusion.

I am also a bit concerned about Vermuelen. Has he got chronic knee problems is a question? I thought he had lost some pace on coming back after the last injury. But we can easily play a number of players at 8 so its not a huge issue. Nevertheless big bonus if Vermuelen is okay.

We must alway have a big bruiser in the mix. Here we have  Alberts, Elstaadt (Going overseas but should be picked or last to some parasotic NH test side) and Rhodes- who impressed on coming back from injury.

I would like to see Labbers get a shot against Scotland. Man this guy has a superb work rate and i sa complete player. Can he mix it at test level? Arno look fine to me.

Mike I would say you are juding Alberts too quickly. Albert needs to get properly match fit. He is still an option especiallty in NH condidions. Get the donkey fit! Too many injueirs so hecan never get going. Running into gang tackles continuously does nobody's health any good. Wise up coaches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beeno It is not me that is judging Alberts harshly - it is his own performances in 2012 and in the two games he played this year on Super 15 level. Last year he was relatively poor - his ball carrying capacity against a team like Scotland last year was good - but against stronger opposition (ie Ireland, England, Australia and New Zealand) it was POOR. His tackle count was very low and relatively poor - he missed 20% of all attempted tackles - and his line-out performance was virtually non-existent. The above is based on the stats last year and takes into account the two games he played on Super 15 level this year. The above fully confirm my viewpoints on his performances. I like what I have seen of Elstadt and Rhodes - but I doubt very much very Meyer would use either at 7. Meyer will never use Labuschagne at 7 or even include him on the bench - we will see what happens on Wednesday - but he will not change basically the loosie combination and that leaves Lappies out of contention.
