I see Kolisi remains captain, so that question is officially answered. I like the fact that Willemse has been included, as well as Marco Van Staden. There are a couple of inclusions that I just don't understand. Mvovo, Jantjies, Malherbe, JL Du Preez (His handling is too kak for the top level).

Saw the name Elton Jantjies. Stopped caring.

Agreed Pakie, he just does not have the mental strength for international rugby. How many chances does he get? He is the new Wynand olivier, but in a more important position. And by he I mean Jantjies.

ahe!

It is not a bad team, as most of the best players that exist are in the squad. Scrumhalves are poor, but it is not as if SA have many decent scrumhalf's at the moment.

Lets look at the funny selections of players who would make no toehre international side under normal conditions because of inability to perform:-

Backs

I think the following are total waste of space in the squad - they are poor defenders and bring nothing positive to the side in attacking play:-

Lukhanyo Am

Ross Cronje

Elton Jantjies

Lionel Mapoe

Who are they going to use as starting centers?   Probably Esterhuizen and Kriel.   Esterhuizen did not have a good test in June, but he played outside of the flop Jantjies.

Forwards

Siya Kolisi

Francois Louw

Sikhumbuzo Notshe

Marvin Orie

Kolisi's performances this year can best be described as totally under par.  He is made the captain for all the wrong reasons and is not an asset to the team - but a liability.

Louw is a has-been who flopped in the latest tests he played in - he is too slow and too poor to have been in the squad..

Orie is a poor Super Rugby player and what he is doing in the squad is basically to make up th quota numbers,   Bad news that one.

Notshe is a nice CC player - but is way out of his depth in tests.

I was hoping that our delinquent members would be over the moon about the absence of De Allende from the squad.   They must have been over-the-moon about the injury who prevented his selection.

I am not sure about Etzebeth at all - he had no rugby for circa 9 months and there are question marks about his match-fitness,   We will I assume know by Wednesday or Thursday next week  which team has been s elected for the game on Saturday..

If only Kockott wasn't kept out of the fold for an overweight and passed his best Januarie, we'd have at least one 9.

I rate Jano Vermaak and Shaun Venter higher than any of the 9's in the squad...Even Groom is better than Papier and VZ????

Edit!!! Huge error, I forgot about Faf....The only worthy pick at 9....he might develop into a world class player...certainly have enough heart. Best 9 available!

Cockott?????????????????????????????

He played for France and does not qualify to play for SA.   Could not keep his place in the French team for any length o f time and played either as starter or from the bench 11 times for France.

Is 32 years old already and does not appear regularly for Castres anymore.   Was a good player in his prime, but at the time there were better scrummies than him in SA,   Even at this stage Januarie has a better form record in France than Crockott has.

Dream on.

The backs are where the main problems are, the forwards are pretty solid.

Let's deal with the crap, medium, good and excellent.

  Crap to medium

Lukhanyo Am- average at best, not SuperRugby standard at worst.

André Esterhuizen- on a good day a clone of Frans Steyn, on a bad day a prop forward that is slow.

Ivan van Zyl- on a good day a pub team player, on a bad day a disaster.

Ross Cronjé- on a good day a severe case of arthritis, on a bad day a 100-year-old pensioner would be a better option

Elton Janjies- Jittery Jantjies and Hyde, enough said.

Lwazi Mvovo- his wing is always targeted as an easy points scoring cow.

Makazole Mapimp- an excellant attacking player, but limited in defence.

Jesse Kriel- not great, but options are limited.

Embrose Papier- not great, but is there any others?

Lionel Mapoe- has been useless at test level, but hopefully, things change.

Good and Excellent

Faf de Klerk - A fantastic player, hopefully, he can last each and every 80 minutes.

Handré Pollard - as with Faff.

Aphiwe Dyantyi- the best attacking threat for the Boks- along with Willie Leroux

Willie le Roux- one of the few thinking players.

Damian Willemse - a Wild Card. Surely the bench option instead of Jantjies.

I'm aware of his status Clever Mike. Hence why I said it was a shame he wasn't capped by Peter. For quite a few years he was the next best 9 after Du Preez. However, he was too white. Kockott new it, and so he sought better opportunities abroad. He would have been better than what we have now. What could have been had he not been chased away by racists? That's the tragedy.

I think Kockott would have been a good fit for the Boks. Jano is dynamic but prone to the big mistake.

Vermaak had his chance against Italy in 2013 and blew it. I also expected him to eventually nail down the 9 jersey, but he never took the necessary step up.

@ Ah the lost sheep has returned, aka the Dirty Mutt. The dirty Mutt Cutt can pick teams from players that do not exist, or Curry Cup players that are un proven.
