Bok squad
Dave
Just a question - there are conflicting local reports on Vermeulen. Some reports claimed he played rugby for his Japanese Club - other reports indicating he is returning from an injury lay-off. If the latter I think he may flop in SR next year playing for the Bulls.
He was very good in the first two tests against the English in June and then the bottom fell out after he complained of aches and pains after the second test. He was not much more than a passenger in the third test. In essence he should not be selected on the basis Meyer used to pick his WC squad in 2015,

I disagree with Dave on his selections - he is entitled to his opinion on players. You have never given players on your prejudice hate list credit for good performance and the players you constantly supported in the past mostly failed in the WC and since.
I would rather not talk about other members viewpoints on players and if I were you start looking at the duds you have supported in the past.

In Tight 5 weight and physical strength is a problem. You have been asked why the rolling mauls have virtually dried up - the deficiency started showing its ugly head in 2014.
The problems encountered with Matfield and Mostert were described in detail. All you responded on was total BS and we are still waiting for a logical contribution from you on that one.
Sorry - but that problem will not go away if Mostert remains as a lock.
I'd be worried if the ignorant and biased old fool agreed with me on player selections.
Anyone else a bit disappointed with Rob du Preez?
He's had few seasons now and his progress has been much slower than his perceived pedigree seemed to suggest it should.
At the start of the year I thought that by now he might be putting some pressure on Pollard.
With his dad being a Bok 9, he probably received a lot of valuable training/guidence by 18.
He doesn't seem to make poor choices. Just lacks a lot of execution.
Maybe he'll have a proper breakout year soon.
The best game he played was for the Barbarians, otherwise he is hot and cold.
That pass early on in the Currie Cup final totally changed the momentum. Those are telling. His two charge downs in quick succession to lose the Welsh test this year Was another. I haven't seen much of him, but what I have seen is a player who always seems to be a half-beat behind play. Some bad option taking. A little coaching would help, but what kind of help will he receive? He has potential.
He is 25 now. We'll see where he is in a couple of years. He is a long way off where Pollard was at 20.
Robert Du Preez is too slow and sterile for a flyhalf.

Some people are complaining about some WP bias from Rassie. 22 of the 36 has WP ties, not counting Willie, Pollard and Thomas du Toit, who played for WP at junior level....well I counted Jantjies who only played for the Stormers on a loan deal.

I was thinking that too. He does hit the line nicely when he runs at it.
There have also been a few glimpses of him running gaps from time to time.
The Sharks in general have been struggling to put continuous phases together all year and maybe that hasn't helped him.
Anyway, I think there were a few here that expected a bit more than whAt we've seen.
Folks WP carries South Afri can rugby always has!
Draad
Many years ago I went to a Springbok game and they lost, There were 8 WP players in the Springbok team. Just outside the stadium there was not too sober a guy pissing and a bloke tried to get him to stop. His response was -
"WP against the wall"
I do not think it is fair to highlight and underline players with connections with WP.
* Fact is Le Roux never played for WP - he went from Boland to the Cheetahs. Erasmus said at the time he refused to give Le Roux a contract and afterwards admitted he made a mistake. Pollad is in much the sake boat - he played some schools rugby in WP - but he never played for any WP ream after he left school.
* Some players like Jantjies and Koch was on loan for a year by the Lions and Pumas respectively and there stint was comparatively short and Jantjies dialed so badly - the contract was cut when they let him to go back to the Lions, because his performances were way below expectations.
* Some player played for other provinces and moved to the WP after having made their names in other provinces. To my mind that is really not fair.
The above examples are just some indications confirming my opinion as stated abo ve
Ignorance is bliss
